Understanding the Orbit of Venus

 and the appeal of Venus Star Points

Being able to increasingly comprehend the cosmos

 is the work of many disconnected sectors

 but astrologers can advantageously pursue

 the naturally wholistic path and gain immensely

 from the crossover with various fields

 - most obviously astronomy

Venus at superior conjunction is on the far side of the Sun and hidden from Earth view.

We only get up close and personal when she is near Earth and especially when retrograde and at the inferior conjunction with Earth and Sun 

Venus is famous for beauty and loves floristry so it is perfectly appropriate that in fulfilling this planet’s orbital pattern in relationship to Earth and Sun that a 5-petal flower pattern is formed.

After Venus completes the retrograde loop the orbit goes beyond the yellow dot Sun symbols and is out of sight of Earth when reaching exact superior conjunction with the Sun

Although circular versus elliptical orbits are the standard graphic display device the example [c] above from solar scientist Nicola Scafetta is inherently astronomically accurate in depicting the orbit of Venus conforming to an interior square in relationship to the orbit of Earth. 

This proportional relationship of Earth orbit to Venus orbit

 is key to the creation of the famous 5-petal pattern

 but timing and spatial positioning all together 

serve to reinforce the quality of cosmic harmony

 of the spheres within our local solar system

The orbit of Venus happens to be the most circular of any planet

In graphic [c] above Venus [red dot] orbits between Earth and Sun in anticlockwise orbital motion but the conjunction points are located distinctly differently in spatial positioning at each occurrence within the 8 year cycle period. 

Venus is termed retrograde when conjunct Earth and at inferior conjunction with the Sun.

When getting to the essence of the Venus-Earth-Sun dynamics  the 5-petal Star of Venus is more informative than the standard star symbol.

Being a time-based pattern the 5-petal star energetic field travels from one alignment point to the next chronologically in sequence.

This shows that despite the paths of Venus and Earth being  standard closed loop orbits when conceived on a flat plane their orbital inter-relationship weaves an invisible energetic trace in 3D space

This trace also depicts the transit of Venus both in inferior retrograde conjunction and in superior conjunction to the Sun at the centre - 9.5 months after the inferior conjunction alignment which is shown on the standard orbital ring.

Using Scafetta’s astronomical positioning of Venus at the 2012 2014 2015 2017 2018 inferior conjunctions with Sun and Earth - to see how the 5-petal star evolves -

Although the flower pattern is very intriguing it is important to go beyond the pretty picture and consider the meaningful qualities being evoked.

We can only wonder at the informational field being carried through sequentially from one Venus-Earth Sun alignment [imprint] to the next and this is where Venus Star Points are likely to provide answers.

Venus Star Points

Being able to understand the significance of key transits of Venus - our comparatively very close neighbouring planet may become even more important at it is reported to be coming even closer

The astronomy of planetary orbits especially the graphic representations enables a much clearer view of the special field of enquiry known as Venus Star Points - explored in great detail by Arielle Guttman after she received deep insights about Venus from the cosmos in 2004.

A lot of astrologers have embraced Arielle’s work - and eventually [since my scope has been intensely focussed elsewhere] - this work has permeated through to me - approaching it as a beginner testing the waters but intrigued to know more.

There is a lot to it but here are some basics to keep in mind

Kelly Surtees 2020 post on Venus retrograde mentions that the Venus Star points typically locate long-term in their grouping of 5 signs - this means when Arielle Guttman uses the standard graphic for this era as shown [d] above - the 5 signs are Gemini Capricorn Leo Aries Scorpio - but we know that ultimately there is a locational shift - and in 2022 the Scorpio point shifts back into Libra - 29 degrees on October 22 -which is being heralded as a globally significant energy shift towards sorting out all the facets of Libra - especially relationship dynamics and specifically the concept of partnership - from the personal to professional and on the larger collective scale.

What is partnership? What kind of partnership relationship do we want or need? What behaviours are required? What behaviours are deal-breakers?

In terms of Venus archetypes it looks like female/feminine power is really on the upswing! I think you can tell that collectively we have been fusing into this era for a few years in the waxing period before this October 2022 Sun Venus-Earth conjunction.

[only October 2026 sees a Venus Star Point resume early in Scorpio -otherwise it's Libra fully in the mix]

In my home country New Zealand the nation is hosting a 12 team international Women’s Rugby World Cup from 8 October-12 November 2022 including 3 important matches on Venus Day Saturday October 22.

This is proving to be a very popular sporting event appealing across the traditional gender boundaries - and the build up in excitement is to some extent eclipsing the famous local men’s rugby team the All Blacks.

The issues

Venus Star Point shift into Libra in October days after Pluto square Sun-Venus.

The factors when fully analysed don't point to pretty outcomes. 

The picture I see evolving from the multiple Venus factors is serious significant economic upheaval and decline across the globe: events in October November December being clear aggravations of conditions already exposed during earlier points in 2022.

By the latter part of December there are 3 - approaching 4 planets at World Axis Points: zero cardinal 15 fixed 27.5 cardinal and flowing into 2023 adding to the suggestion of considerable significance.

Champlain Towers Collapse June 2021 - astrological factors in effect

The Champlain Towers condominium collapse at Surfside Miami has occurred under the stress angle between Saturn & Uranus & at the full Moon in Capricorn amplified by Jupiter in Pisces.

Completed in 1981 with 136 condos 55 were destroyed on June 24 around 1.30am.

Champlain Towers were likely under construction when the Jupiter-Saturn in Libra conjunctions occurred in Dec 31 1980 & March 4 1981 - the latter being an extra Piscean New Moon period. The coastal location. The known sinking of local real estate due to sea level rises

The known corrosion of steel & damage to concrete noted in advance of the once in 40 years recertification...all point to the extent of Neptunian factors impacting the balance (Libra) of this large structure (Jupiter- Saturn)

Miami Professor Shimon Wdowinski knew of the building's vulnerability since the 1990s " sinking & unstable". Action was not initiated until recent plans to meet recertification requirements.

Since June 24 much information has been released pointing to the key ingredients: 

water and corrosion caused by normal chemical reactions though a formal investigation is underway.

The Matter of Cycles

Astrologers know that cycles of Jupiter and Saturn are very significant in human affairs so it is significant that this building was constructed under the influence of the Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions in Libra 1980-1981. We know that Jupiter is supersized and Saturn is framework in a construction. No date of commencement or completion is available to insert here so useful extra information cannot be included. However it is of interest that the 1980-1981 conjunctions of Saturn and Jupiter occurred in the Air sign Libra which is the transitional beginning the Air era but still occurred within the Earth era. The year 2000 conjunction in Taurus completed the Earth era. 2020 [December] saw the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius proceed in Air for the long-term [around 200 years of societal influence]

As Earth is the peak material physical materialist era for society - the last gasp Earth element period was 2000-2020 and the consequences of the earth era are being delivered: Champlain Towers this huge material event was born and died in the two beginning phases of the Air era just as the shortcomings of the material era are very much exposed.

This collapse seems symbolic of the energy shift from Earth to Air - not only as the numerous examples of materials failures but also as waste or sources of environmental damage and also regarding the risks of exposing material structures to the forces of nature. 

The current Aquarius emphasis for Jupiter and Saturn is linked to the condition of Uranus - which in 2021 remains in Taurus - a cosmic joke of sorts to place this airy energy in an earthy sign and earthy Saturn in Uranus' sign Aquarius as we grapple with the transition from Earth era to Air era. The development of new or revolutionary materials is likely to be necessitated to overcome our old world pillaging of the planet and short-term thinking about us and nature.

Clearly there is much to learn and many changes to be made as humanity is pressured to make this adjustment away from a dominant and unwise materials focus. We will still need well constructed dwellings but far cleverer and far wiser people will be needed to service design and build them.

Energies in Effect June 2021

Building in power since the 21st the June full Moon on the 24th [Universal Time/GMT] with Capricorn Sun Cancer Moon was impacted by Jupiter in Pisces in tight connection.

Capricorn is structures/construction and the Moon and Jupiter in water signs merge those two factors.

The stationing of Neptune brought a second huge emphasis to water energy.

The planet relating to structures being Saturn was compromised by the tight square stress from Uranus in Taurus - a sudden change in the physical structure. [the exact 90 degree angle was 10 days prior]

This June 23 @astroprofiles quote preceeded the collapse & noted other contexts

Neptune is stationing. Evoking Venus in Cancer in recent days. The theme of Necessary Protection on the collective & everyday levels in a conflict & Covid-ravaged world.

The caution needs to remain in place in this lunar month until July 24 full moon

Heading into week one of July the Saturn Uranus energy is stil primed for release especially from 2 July and for 3-4 days due mainly to the activating energy of Mars comming in range and joined by Venus -both in Leo reaching degrees that activate Saturn and Uranus at a time when Neptune has moved just 2 minutes from the June 24 station -so remains powerfully indicative of water dissolution disintegration energy.

Moon in Taurus energy at 11-15 degrees - being July 4- 5 in some time zones - joins with the fixed sign mix of Leo Aquarius and Taurus already current adding more force to the collection of energies.

The 4th is a Saturn number so emphasises extra care.

This collection of energies not only evokes challenging Scorpio energy in general into the collective [ loss death disempowerment enforced transformation] but will also be hard on early November Scorpios who have their Sun within that degree range.

The north section residents of Champlain Towers Miami are now facing the anxiety of living in a potentially equally unsafe building.

so this is a potentially hazardous period for them.

As all astrologers are aware any energy or collection of energies can have multiple potentials. The nature of the manifestation in any private or collective environment depends upon the connections made to the prevailing transiting energy by the individual or group.

When group events occur such as plane crashes and the Champlain Towers disaster there is a very powerful collective energy connection amongst those involved in any mass fatality event.

The early July 2021 energies will not only be about collapse or destruction therefore manifest in different ways in different contexts associated with the specific activations of different energies of individuals or the shared energy of groups. 

What links these events in subtle or obvious ways are the themes that emerge that carry resonance amongst various different outcomes or manifestations in the key time frame.

Your Personal Solar Cycle

We live in a solar system under the control of the big local star we call the Sun.   Using an earth-based perspective we see that in a year the Sun passes through 12 different sectors expressing the energies of the astrological zodiac.

The sun is an immense force sending its transmissions out to embrace all the planets within its system and with capacities way beyond sunshine and solar flares. 

Every year this outpouring of solar creative energy brings that force to a particular aspect of your life for a period approximating a month.

Even if you don't have a personal birth chart which will give you a more personalised schedule of the solar cycle this additional method will also work to highlight the month by month focus areas.

Starting on the day of your birthday you can consider and hopefully pursue the areas of focus that offer growthful development.

The basic premise is that on one level the individual's solar year starts at the person’s birthdate with the year then divided into 12 monthly sectors.

For example a Scorpio born 15 November will begin month 1 of their solar year on November 15, Month 2 on December 15 switching focus on the 15^th of every month. 

A Leo born on the 8 of August will begin month 1 on that day every year and change focus on the 8^th of every month

So everyone allows one month from birth to contain the first sector –then proceeds through the year to observe 12 sectors.

Month 1 =  time to be more self aware, discovering ourself as a separate being, in touch with your needs and reaching out for what we want. A me-myself-I time.

Month 2  = meeting survival & security needs - food, clothing, shelter, income. Being in touch with body needs such as sensory stimulation or pampering the senses –massage, spa, makeover etc

Month 3 = time to shift into mental stimulation –reading, writing, learning, conversing, discussing. The mind is seeking input and variety. Some of this is achieved by information input and output, some achieved by gathering information more subtly through walking, jogging, cycling, driving or travelling into other environments, observing the variety of  life.

Month 4  = more awareness of and emphasis on family and home related matters, housing or accommodation, your place of shelter, where you nurture yourself in privacy away from the world. A time to know what you’re really feeling, discover how to nurture yourself and others.

Month 5 = the drive to create can express itself in this period through the fine art of child-rearing or the arty-crafty or designer side of you. Emphasising the recreational aspects of these –enjoying a fun activity with children or immersed in solo enjoyment of a home interior project, painting a landscape. This month is also time to be in touch with your heart, doing what you love and expressing love to others.

Month 6 = the emphasis is on making sure all your systems are functioning well. Firstly it is the body in terms of the digestive system –as this can be the source of so many subsequent health issues –which can in themselves require attention in this month. Diet and nutrition then become a relevant focus as a health-improving approach. The other system involving most adults is the day to day tasks related to their job.  Focus may be needed to improve efficiency, become better organised, reflects on what’s working, what isn’t and finding solutions or improvements.

Month 7 =Focus on how you relate to other people, how you treat others, how you manage your marriage, partnership, one-to-one processes or your closest relationship. Looking at any imbalances in contributions, fairness, inequality. Is someone being too selfish, too lazy, too irresponsible, unsupportive? Try to find agreeable solutions to restore harmony.

Month 8 = Issues of power or disempowerment can arise including any form of power abuse. Power is an energy that many gain from physical means, from money or from a position of authority. Many people abuse their power and many suffer from that abuse. In biological terms the sexual use of power is intended for the creation of children but we also engage in sex for reasons such as physical pleasure emotional intimacy, stress relief, dominance or violence. Sexual union as a transformational experience is explained in Tantric Buddhism and this quality of transcending the physical plane into a metaphysical experience of energy is the use of the sexual drive in pursuit of enlightenment. Another aspect which can arise in this part of the cycle -  is death: the symbolic death is the process of ongoing change we all have the opportunity to embrace – where parts of us die  -thoughts and ways of being –so we can be born again with a new sense of ourselves. It can be having to deal with the experience of literal death and its duties –such as dealing with a will or inheritance – someone you know may die –or someone known more remotely –a famous person.

Month 9 =  encourages an urge to expand ourselves on one or many dimensions. This many come through sport or exercise developing our physical capacities. It may be through very specialised study beyond our school education – expanding our minds with knowledge. It may be through travel we expand – moving across large distances with encounters that stretch our concepts of the world and humanity – or through exploration of unknown territories that excite our thirst for adventure. We may choose the armchair option of expanding the mind through philosophical or theological enquiry, seeking to understand the nature of our existence, the nature of reality and what we believe in.

Month 10 = we can now reflect on our successes and attainments and see what goals we still aspire to or what special vocation is our social responsibility. We can assess how much growth we have achieved in terms of increasing our level of maturity. Knowing how developed we are in terms of our capacity for self management and how successful we are in managing others is part of the process. This is a time to know what benefit we are to society and how to improve that.  Seeing what we are contributing and how much guidance we are offering to others is a gauge of how capable we are in nurturing our larger community

Month 11 =  a great time to devote to activities with friends one-to-one and/or have some group activities –whether that is recreational or for some developmental purpose. This is also the community-awareness month when opportunities to be involved outside your personal circle can be very beneficial. Community awareness then feeds into issues of how everyone is getting on, who needs help and what issues need highlighting. For these reasons issues of social justice are very relevant in this period.

Month 12 = the best opportunity to go into hibernation –the month before your birthday. This is the retreat from the world period and corresponds to the final month in the womb, pre-birth which is spent in a sleep state. As best you can, if a full solo retreat is not possible, it is advisable to spend as much time as you can alone doing those very private things like meditating, journal-writing, artwork, walking, daydreaming – to the exclusion of as many everyday tasks as possible. In a sane world this is when we would be able to take our annual leave.

This annual refresher allows us to get in touch with ourselves, process the complexities of life such as families, work, relationships and to formulate strategies for betterment.

This sequence starting from your birthdate is accessible to everyone and easy to enter on your monthly calendar

For those who know their accurate time of birth a more personalised solar cycle can be calculated. This is equally valid and will show that there are times when two areas of life activity are activated by the Sun.

November 4 set the scene for extreme weather and significant environmental events.

The signature was Saturn Uranus and Neptune all triggering the potency of the 27 Sagittarius current position of the Milky Way's Galactic Centre.

The November 18 New Moon has sustained this with Sun Moon Saturn Uranus Neptune all in activating positions

The December 3 Full Moon sees the build-up intensify:

Sun Moon Jupiter Neptune all synergised and collectively activating Saturn Mercury Mars Uranus

Each lunar phase signature carries forward til the next lunar phase of that type - new to new, full to full and lunar phases begin to kick in days before the exact mathematics of conjunction or opposition to the sun
The signature is the qualities of the stand-out energies present at that phase  - especially the dominant interconnected forces acting in synergy.
December 3 is a visible Supermoon - closer than normal & with stronger potentials.

The Meaning

Extreme forces have accumulated over a period of weeks in the energy field and atmosphere of earth, with high probability of significant outcomes in weather and environmental events.

Mt Agung in Indonesia is one relevant example - the volcano began signs of renewed activity on November 21 then began erupting on November 25 

As the days progress towards the end of November then come in effective range of the December 3 full moon, the potential for a significant eruption is definitely at high alert level - if the eruption has not already occurred by the 30th of November.

The December full moon carries themes of extreme water events [could be rain/flood/inundation, mass deaths, travel restrictions or any number of problematic issues around travelling.

The Mars and Aries energies are amplified = heat and fire

All forms of transport are vulnerable -land/sea/air but international travel is most vulnerable and when masses of people are collected together.

Boat people/refugees at higher than usual risk -masses on boats in water.

If ash cloud closes a number of airports we will again see a travel log-jam as witnessed when Iceland's volcano blew in 2010 [multiple planets and moon phases activated in the critical 25-29  degree range in March- April 2010]

This is a high-risk period for certain people in certain places

Local conditions will reveal whether the extreme effects are expected to manifest as weather; quake and volcano monitoring should show any uptick in energy.

The effects are restricted to certain locations, certain people - always depending on the physics of resonance. Energies are always attracted to certain places or people.

The Sun and Jupiter were conjunct at 25-26 degrees
The lunar nodes were at 28 degrees
Pluto and Chiron in opposition were at 10 degrees

An effective range from 25-29 degrees can be considered relevant when determining whether a solar system luminary [sun or moon] or planet holding a position in that degree range is effectively acting as a step down transformer of potent forces from the heart of our galaxy. Earth is just one body in space where effects can be monitored and regular observation consistently confirms this process is occurring, with resultant severe environmental consequences -expressed both as weather extremes with associated atmospheric disturbance and terrestrial unrest expressed as seismic/volcanic activity outcomes.
Land sea and air are all collectively impacted and particular locations always show the most obvious outcomes. The complexities of where are left for others to specialise in. The issue of when is much more easily focussed into recurrent and perpetual periods when several planetary/luminary energies combine forces in the 25-29 degree range and as typically found when the angles* in the range sitting at 10-14 degrees are also occurring synchronistically. The 1963 Mt Agung event has 25-26 degrees and 10 degrees - a total of four factors all in tight synergy. The lunar nodal axis at 28 degrees tags on to the Sun at 26.

The 2017 Mt Agung context:
The December 3 Full Moon  - which begins to strengthen from the last day of November - reveals:

• Sun-Moon-Neptune-Jupiter ALL at 12 degrees
• 12 degrees is the semisquare of 27 degrees
• Uranus-Mars-Saturn-Mercury sit in the range 25-29 degrees -with a midpoint degree of 27
• this tags on 4 potent forces to the four involving the full moon = total of 8 very tightly connected
• this type of combination is high potency and high risk in any context where the fuse blows.
• indicators regarding transport risks [Saturn-Mercury conjunction in Sagittarius] are high probability
• indicators for volatile explosive activity [Uranus-Mars in opposition] are high risk in terms of volatile materials, weaponry, destructive damage including accidents/crashes
• Jupiter in Scorpio: mass deaths due to large numbers of people in the target zone when the forces are unleashed
• Neptune-Jupiter connection - water danger/death or transformational change due to contexts where rain flood inundation affect land areas or sea vessels. Large seas, big waves in some locations. Big waves of compassion re major tragedy.

Many of these themes have been sustained for several weeks but keep being activated by the same energies remaining significant. The December full moon looks to be the strongest indicator of major outcomes.

A scheduling glitch affecting huge numbers of airline pilots needed for the US pre-Xmas holiday week Dec 17-24 meant that thousands of pilots had been allotted vacation time -when they were needed -potentially affecting the airline network and customer travel plans in a major way.
