Cancer Capricorn and The Cardinal Crucible

A crisis of neglect has characterised the current cardinal era where Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn have been assisted by Jupiter Saturn Uranus Chiron the lunar nodes and a series of eclipses transiting cardinal signs. Capricorn alone is not the solution to resolving our collective dysfunctions: Aries Libra and Cancer along with Capricorn form the cardinal crucible within which our world and our individual lives of necessity must be regenerated.
The cardinal sign energies when positively expressed by the human collective form the bedrock of societal functionality and wellbeing. All of us in every life context need to use the best potentials of Aries assuredness Libra's co-operative spirit Cancer's awareness of nurturing and Capricorn's careful management skills. Without these dispositions guiding society we have collectively fallen into major imbalance where selfish competitive neglectful and individual ambitious drives are the overriding threads in global society. This cannot succeed for humanity and cannot benefit our life on this planet but first we are confronted with our worst behaviours in the Pluto period in Capricorn since 2008. Then with Saturn in Capricorn 2018-2020 we will encounter the responsibilities we're avoiding and will be pressured to act upon them. The Moon's nodes in Cancer-Capricorn have added further emphasis since November 2018-May 2020. The pressure to change is sustained and essential - which means to mature and evolve and update our individual and collective operating systems and choose growth over degeneration and regression into overwhelming dystopia.

All energies have potential negative expressions and when the bedrock signs of our planet ( Think about the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn on the earth map which mark the sun's passage in summer and winter and that Aries and Libra mark the onset of Spring and Autumn. These signs are consistent with life on our planet)
The dysfunctions arising under negative cardinal energies traverse a wide spectrum along which sit matters such as the functions and powers of government, the fundamental needs of humans for health and wellbeing, our interaction with our planet and other species. Fundamental to these and related issues are the elements of responsibility and relationship. These are the bottom lines for creating functionality: when responsibility is denied ignored rejected avoided then neglect is left to spread.
Failure to support failure to nurture failure to protect are all signs of the Cancer Capricorn archetypes being in retreat when they ought to be primary
These two signs are the intended parental energies that structure societies both through families, communities and through government's role in loco parentis.
Business models and pressure to consume have infected both government and families with social wellbeing and human values being sacrificed in the process.

Cancer and Capricorn cannot function at their best without sound fundamentals learnt in the Aries and Libra stages of development. When supported by solid parenting (where parents have internalised the Cancer & Capricorn archetypes) a child develops a strong core self (the Aries stage). This strength enables the child to form successful relationships in general as well as life partnerships (the Libra stage) When these 2 stages are not produced in a family environment the consequences are societal: the children of those families repeat the weakness and dysfunctions through their relationships and their attempts to parent the next generation: their children cannot parent in the way intended through the Cancer Capricorn archetypes and so all of society at every level in every context suffers dysfunctions in how we treat and relate to others - which includes how we relate to other species, other races, to the planet in general, to our local environment...in other words it becomes a global crisis..which is where in this new millennium we are now.
The cycle has to be broken and amidst the extremes being witnessed in homelessness or housing crises, in environmental threats, in human nastiness....this is the best era of opportunity to turn things around
Since 2008 when Pluto entered Capricorn an extreme era began to unfold. Pluto will be on the job of transforming society from the bottom upwards over a 16 year period, joined more briefly by Saturn Jupiter Uranus, the nodal points of the Moon, and a series of eclipses. Jupiter will transit all 4 cardinals in the 15 gear focal period. Uranus will focus on Aries during 2010-2017.The nodes cover all Cardinals.
 Capricorn and Cancer in everyone and every context will be very strongly under renovation during the period till 2024 but Aries and Libra energies in all of us are also being automatically pressured to keep in step and undergo an upgrade.

Climate & Human Crisis

As an astrologer the future is always of interest. Consideration of the changes and consequences related to global climate is high on our collective agenda with daily reminders that significant forces are in process. All life on this planet is being impacted and as humans it is natural to look for meaning when an existential crisis arises.
I have a special interest in researching the galactic forces that deliver severe weather. I feel very attuned to the state of the planet and it's recurrent responses to the sun the moon the eclipses. This all makes perfect sense to those who think on a large scale. We occupy a tiny place in a huge system which in itself is minuscule within the larger universe. We know so little...but over millenia we have some knowledge of repeated themes occurring related to the prominence of particular planets.

The watchers amongst us know that the world changes significantly when certain planets occupy certain signs.
The three signs at the end of the zodiac are Capricorn Aquarius and Pisces. These represent the last sector of development of consciousness on a collective level.
After ideas beliefs philosophies and faiths have been explored (the Sagittarius stage) practical action is required consistent with those mental positions (Capricorn stage). Then comes the realisation that we do best when we are friendly towards life and all beings. We see can we work well in groups for the common good (Aquarius stage). After this a growing appreciation of our commonality our sameness our interconnected lives and existence our link to all other life. Ultimately this extends to the cosmos the whole of existence. From these awarenesses compassion is born and harm is no longer an option. (Pisces stage)

These are the ideals indicated as an aspirational pathway for humanity. At present in general we fall well short and the destructive consequences of that are clear.

One current factor outside this scheme but playing a major role in the planet is Uranus in the earth sign Taurus. This planet is the great change-maker through sudden disruptions and unexpected events. In Taurus this is the state of Planet Earth and the soil and what it produces and feeds.

This post arise as a response to an interview between Daniel a Buddhist and Jem Bendell an academic who has committed to climate action and who wants to promote the notion of adaptation to whatever unfolds. He sees social collapse as inevitable and therefore promotes the contemplative and spiritual paths as well as the psychological and mental health support necessitated for many.
His focus is how we are going to help each other.
To me this reflects the Capricorn Aquarius Pisces trio - the structural changes necessitated the groups and networks engaged the commonality acknowledged all for collective benefit.

The spiritual imperative ranks highest for me in terms of adaptation and that source of guidance serves to inform practical decisions more soundly than any responses born out of panic fear or desperation.
By 2026 the picture will be undeniably clear as to choices and what needs to change.

 Regarded as the worst humanitarian crisis involving mass movements of people since WW2, some 12 million Syrians displaced since 2011, 4 million of those into other countries; 3 million displaced from Iraq since December 2013; Rohinaya Muslims from Myanmar and Bangladesh, numbering some 25,000 in the period January-March 2015. 
These are some but not all of the global situations representing floods of people on the move.

Jupiter in Virgo is the social networks of people, structured social groupings or demographics. 
Neptune is the energy of flow like water, a tide.

September 2015 is noted not only for the human floods but also major flash floods in Japan and the US and any other significantly large body of water in movement. [as I write a M8 quake off Chile has sent a tsunami wave across the Pacific Ocean as well as along the shoreline in the region of Santiago.
Later reports indicate the mass movement of an estimated one million people from vulnerable zones in Chile -another human flood]

Opposing forces grow:
Controls, restrictions, barriers, walls, fences, laws, penalties, strict and austere approaches.
With the return of Saturn to Sagittarius on September 18 2015 the response to people of nationality that is foreign to a host nation becomes much less compassionate in certain locations.

Human streams converge- Mina Sept 24 2015

The Human Flood resulting in mass deaths in Mina, near Mecca, Saudia Arabia during the events of the Haj reflects strongly the prevailing planetary energies of Jupiter opposing Neptune and Saturn in Sagittarius. 

Jupiter and Sagittarius are indicators of spiritual or religious matters. Neptune represents a very similar attunement to the divine and includes devotion and worship. 

Saturn is associated with challenges, tests, difficulties or disasters.

Within the context of the Haj an immense devotional flood of human energy met the blockage and tragic outcome represented by Saturn.
A 5am local time for the tragic event shows Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron prominent on the sunrise-sunset AC-DC axis; Saturn in range of midway between the Sun and Moon.
These positionings amplify and electromagnetically earth the extreme energy in the location at that time.

Across the other side of the world, as this tragedy unfolded

but before the news was known, I observed, while walking 

in the late afternoon, a very large cloud in the blue sky. 

It was the shape of a Satan figure, viewed from behind.

 It formed a lunging position towards the waxing Moon above. 

It swallowed the moon and as the half moon was swallowed 

its full shape was visible, like a round stone 

descending the oesophagus.

Satan has connections to Saturn.

update: Sept 27 the 96 year old, recently restored vessel MV Tuhoe foundered at the mouth of the Waimakariri River. After two nights spent stranded at the river mouth, the boat had taken on board 1m depth of seawater in the hull, the stern dropped and buckling and splitting destroyed the Tuhoe's integrity. An immediate deconstruction process ensued.

The prevailing energies of flood,  [Jupiter-Neptune, assisted by connected energies of Mars and Saturn] amplified by the September 28 Supermoon were all relevant in the ill-fated timing of the journey from Lyttelton -after $200,000 of restoration work, to its Kaiapoi River berth, passing the Waimakariri River en route. A sandbar trapped the boat -and not for the first time - June 1963 was a lucky escape for the Tuhoe when the boat got stuck on the Waimakariri bar but responded to refloating. Maritime mishaps were written in the stars when the boat first launched on April 7 1919.

October sees an intensification of the forces opposing the spreading human flood wherever in the world that this issue is manifesting.

November:
Restraints, legal restrictions, barriers intensify against the forces of flow and of justice, freedom and compassion.  
A polarizing struggle may result with sentiment strong on both sides in affected Eurozone communities -many in support of welcoming refugees, many opposed.
Different outcomes likely in different nations - one taking a hardline restrictive approach while a bordering country opting for tolerance and inclusion.
The Saturn-Neptune standoff intensifies through November and very pronounced as the month ends and December begins.

December:
While significant restriction on refugee movements seem likely to be embedded across the Eurozone by December, it will be worth noting the events surrounding 18-20 December when another energy pattern begins to develop relating to mass movements of people.
New conditions in different locations likely to add to the social causes of displacement. 
Extreme weather conditions likely to unfold in mid December are also a significant part of the picture: drought likely to intensify in October, through November and December but any source of destructive flooding also potentially involved.
Galactic Centre position 27 SAG activated in December 
The Sun and lunar nodal axis will converge to provide a noticeable trigger of extreme weather conditions.


Jupiter conjunct the lunar north node will be triggered by the Sun-Node contact in December as an early indicator of events in January and February 2016 when Jupiter is tight to exact on nodal axis for weeks in duration

It seems likely that a perfect storm of social-political and environmental root causes are converging in the period  December 2015-January-February 2016 with human displacement on a very significant scale being the outcome in diverse global locations and not just restricted to the Eurozone.

The issues of drought and deluge reflect cyclic patterns returning and can be seen in past cycles of El Nino mirroring planetary cycles involving Saturn and Neptune.
When Jupiter combines forces with Neptune the deluge and flooding energies become extreme as noted in September 2015.
May 2016 will see a resumption of the Jupiter-Neptune opposition but Saturn will be at 90 degrees to both planets - Saturn is the restrictive energy, capable of offsetting some of the extremes, but also capable of wrecking or destabilising structures -natural or constructed and so landslips, landslides, riverbanks being breached are typical of Saturn bringing disastrous outcomes in respect of excess water.

The UN is keeping very close observations of the ongoing mass displacement and fears 2015 is still witnessing the tip of the iceberg.
People emerging out of Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia constitute the principal affected zones.

Solar Eclipse - May 10 2013 astro -analysis

A solar eclipse is a powerful solar system template

 of energetic effects over a six month time frame.

 The May 2013 event will have numerous economic and environmental effects with global resonance

At the time of the exact eclipse - as shown at the top of the eclipse chart - there is:

- a bunching of planets in Taurus -Mars, Mercury, south Node, Sun, Moon

- Taurus is the symbolic signifier of money, income, materialism, assets, sales & one's sense of security as well as strongly hedonistic urges.

- Jupiter the signifier of excessive or abundant activity is positioned in Gemini - communications

This combination of connected ingredients creates the picture of

a strongly fuelled acquisitive urge initiating a flurry of activity, a very speculative mood, abundant commercial activity. Sharemarkets could easily show a big burst, but that will not be the end of it

Neptune and Chiron in Pisces territory are at odds with the inflated optimism, fundamental greed  and sensory excesses generated by Venus in cohorts with Jupiter

And what Venus is doing is of ultimate significance here: Venus is in control of the 5 factors in Taurus.

There is significant potential here for Neptune to bring about a dissolving assets and for people to be confronted with dreams of riches, that indeed turn out to be just dreams.

The esoteric meaning of this eclipse a real standoff between the physical vs the non physical, form versus image, things versus feelings.
Many people will discover that what they think is real is tangible terms, can suddenly be made to disappear as if by magic.

The ongoing period of global transformation -politically, economically and environmentally also has a role to play in this eclipse phase of influence since the relevant astrological factors Pluto & Uranus are moving to an exact 90 degree square-off.

A major, long-term rebalancing period is underway in human affairs, governance, relating, self identity and matters of significance to families and their dwellings.

It is no coincidence then that a housing crisis is being recorded in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, France - and probably even more widely than this - constituting effectively the Western world in crisis over a fundamental human need - a crisis created by corrupt policies and poor governance intended to benefit the so called 1%.

In the eclipse chart Pluto and Uranus are significantly linked to the quartet of Venus-Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron.

It is easy to conclude that the housing crisis will further be beset by corruption, financial trickery, dodgy dealings, leading to more people seeing their funds and assets evaporate or disappear into thin air.

It also means that more people are likely to be defrauded, lured in by great deals, or will simply believe too much in the stability and security of their investments  - only to discover that in a flash the tower has collapsed.

Further political change will occur heading in the direction of removing corrupt, repressive regimes. Syria continues to hold a primary position in this respect and time is against them as well as any other circumstances involving individual or collective misuse of power. Abusers will continue to be outed and those who topple will be replaced by even more of that ilk who emerge from the woodwork and expect to withstand the tide of collective purging. Tough luck. The purging will continue in this intense long-term period of eliminating the poisons afflicting humankind, but evil will still be reluctant to release its grip.

With earthy Taurus and Capricorn in the mix as well as the water factor influenced by Neptune [ which itself is subject to Jupiter & Saturn] the deluge/drought scenarios -environmental effects are expected -  places vulnerable to seismic unrest and flooding or drought face an intensification during the period of effect

These are the most important signifiers in this eclipse for the human collective - as well as the remaining species subjected to environmental change

If this were an Aesop's Fable the lesson would be about how true strength comes from within -not from external sources of empowerment - like money & possessions as a source of security. but even this basic truth will not deter those afflicted with the fatal flaws of greed and blind optimism.

Note on eclipses: an eclipse [ like a New or Full Moon] builds in strength in the days prior to exactitude -and has a potential period of influence over the ensuing 6 months. The eclipse influences can be triggered repeatedly during that period  - when other planetary factors emphasise the ingredients

An extreme destructive swarm of tornadoes has hit the American Midwest

Further events and damage including fatalities have occurred

The loss of homes and material existence vapourised as if by a catastrophic form of magic is very consistent with the energy potentials outlined in the eclipse forecast, with effects amplified due to the intensification of the Pluto-Uranus dynamic affecting May 2013. This planetary combo along with the eclipse pattern may be responsible for the strong burst of solar activity May 13-17  - and still with fuel to burn -which has created magnetic turbulence on our planet.

- looks like very rough & tough for many. We are about to face a tough four years when an energy pattern not seen since the 1930's will bring dramatic changes to the lives of many around the world.

• Uranus and Pluto are set to turn the world upside down both literally and figuratively during a phase of readjustment which affects people and places.
• We know so much has to change in order for a better world to develop. Many imbalances have to be rectified so that the extremes of too much and too little cease to devastate the planet and people's lives.
•  Already we have started to experience the foreshadowing of what is to come due to early interactions between these two planetary energies setting the scene for the tide of change to come more emphatically - political unrest, economic austerity and conditions of social adversity. 
• The Occupy movement has made a start in publicising the need for equity and fair practices, but despite this, corruption related to money is rampant

1. All energy patterns occur within an electromagnetic matrix that exists throughout the universe.
2.  For any prevailing energy pattern to affect someone -whether actively by triggering a behaviour or passively by attracting a behaviour - the person will have a resonant or matching vibrational pattern aligned to the vibrational frequency of the planetary energy.
3. Astrology is simply a language for this patterning, using the symbolism of the planets and the descriptive terms identifying the type of energy created when planetary bodies form geometric relationships, called angles -such as square (90degrees) or opposition (180degrees)
4.  Like people, places also have a resonant energy pattern and thus some people and some places seem especially targeted by a particular planetary pattern.  When you are born - place, time, season, generation - are all highly significant in unfolding your destiny or karma.

Some flexibility is needed re the dates which means that effects can occur on or around the dates specified because highly specific info can only be provided when individual birth time-date-place data is provided.
For the same reason this data cannot cover all the birthdates of people affected - having the Moon or other planets like Mercury, Venus, Mars etc in one of the target degrees will result in obvious effects. 
(You need a personal astrological birth chart analysis to  know this.) 

The keys signs of the Uranus-Pluto pattern are Aries and Capricorn but Libra and Cancer are intrinsically implicated being the rest of the cardinal sign group.  Bodily stresses for this whole Cardinal sign group include head injury or injury from weapons; issues with blood, fever, bones, knees, teeth, kidneys and stomach.

The 8th harmonic group is fixed signs Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio -with body weaknesses being heart, circulation, throat, thyroid, neck, sex organs, reproductive/fertility issues.

So internal stresses -bodily - are equally possible effects -  as are outward stresses for an individual -eg those involving their environment, locality, nation and the world at large.

New Structures is the necessity of this planetary pattern. 
To create something new can mean the old must be destroyed, replaced, deconstructed, remodelled, transformed, possibly annihilated. 
Radical changes are likely to be commonplace in order to break with the past, tradition, old habits and practices. Resistance to change will also be evident and people in the 8th harmonic group -the Fixed zodiac signs are most likely to passionately avoid going with the flow willingly.  
For this reason they are most likely to experience enforced changed coming from more powerful forces -eg weather, nature, political policies, social unrest. 
To prepare for change which may be imminent for you, take time to reflect on what is really not working in your life and personal state of being.
