In the historic record there are literally strong resemblances between Hitler's 1938-1939 campaign to re-embrace ethnic Germans living in Bohemia and Moravia regions of Czechoslovakia and claim their land under the premise of their autonomy and what Putin has done in Ukraine

2022 has seen a very similar playbook evoked.

Russian troops began their buildup in the Spring of 2021 at Ukraine's borders..claiming "military exercises"

In February 2022 Putin stated

“I deem it necessary to make a decision that should have been made a long time ago – to immediately recognise the independence and sovereignty of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic,” Putin said.

3 days later Feb 24 it was clear that a full scale invasion was underway

From an astrological perspective the standout indicator of the resonance between these 2 periods is the transit of Pluto

Pluto was late in Cancer from 1936 until entry into Leo began in 1937 but due to retrograding did not leave Capricorn fully and enter Leo until June 1939.

The opposing position of Pluto in Capricorn at 27 degrees has been relevant since February 2022 and  in the context of the Ukraine invasion.

The Cardinal quartet Aries Libra Cancer Capricorn is very much about State family homeland as well as the war and peace energies evoked in the protection and possession of those concepts.

• 2019 opens with the building energies of the first eclipse [January 6] in Capricorn. As typical, extreme energies are whipped up in the window period of an eclipse and for at least half a year ahead. The window opens then closes within 3 days of exactitude = allow 3 days either side of January 6.
• A Capricorn New Moon eclipse highlights the need to increase your level of self management -not expecting parents, partners or society to be the only moderating forces. The responsibility is yours. Stepping up, showing leadership, mentoring are further ways to go with this flow which is relevant to all of us. This type of growth will be assisted if your beliefs expand to recognise that we are all connected, all in this together, all have to play our part.
• 2019 opens ominously due to the influence of Uranus in Aries in a strengthened state as it turns direct once again. The capturing of Venus in Scorpio and the lunar nodes on the Capricorn-Cancer axis will be a period to watch = Jan 4-6. Saturn and Pluto remain in close conjunction for most of 2019.
Saturn will range from 11-21 degrees and Pluto from 20-23 degrees over the course of the year.
Their midpoints need to be given attention -ranging from 16-21.5 degrees as much of the action is likely to occur when these two power players are closely merged.

March 2018 astrology - volatile forces dominate before mid-month

An uncomplicated March, mostly dominated by the sensitive and compassionate energy 

of Neptune is not on offer in 2018.

Only within the first week does the Pisces/Neptune energy dominate – Sun, Mercury, Venus, Neptune all in Pisces – but the full moon on the 2nd has Jupiter in Scorpio merging with Mercury and Venus.

Jupiter in Scorpio is such difficult energy to rein in that it typically expresses in serial offending of a sexual nature or a drive for power that can be boundless and annihilating. A person needs advanced self management to channel that extreme capacity into something bearing the energy of healing rather than abusing.

Within 2 days of the Pisces and Scorpio themed full moon former Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia were found in a critical condition suffering from suspected poisoning.

Death or considerable transformation from the effects of toxic chemistry is well signposted by the Jupiter in Scorpio connection to the Pisces planets as noted at full moon.

Scorpio isn't always lethal but it is often very controlling, suspicious and jealous energy.

The month of March began with Mars sitting adjacent to Pluto, then moving quickly to nudge up alongside Jupiter sequentially gathering all the necessary fuel on board to launch a killer hit.

Cardinal energy courtesy of Saturn already in early Capricorn at the start of March along with Mercury and Venus entering Aries before the end of week one  - adding to the fiery Aries style of Uranus late in its transit of that sign –bolstered as well by Mars in Sagittarius in the weekend of March 10-11. Pluto too is in cardinal Capricorn, effectively at 20-21 degrees all month

This amount of highly activated cardinal energy promises that things will begin –and end, things will be established – and fall apart, things will move at speed – and be stopped in their tracks –much much more action than under a lunar month with dominant Pisces energy.

Mid March looks especially intense.

• Fire [fire literally as well as anger, aggression and high energy] is expressed through 4 planets and the north lunar node from the end of week one and this grouping carries through to the New Moon on the 17^th
• Mars then entering Capricorn joins the cardinal division, soon joined by the Sun at the March 20/21 equinox - entering Aries – adding to Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Pluto – now a total of 6 energies in high activity cardinal signs which hold sway until the end of March.
• The action begins to build from the 11^th when Sun and Pluto link up at the same time as Mars and Uranus and Saturn with Mercury. 

• With powerful forces like Pluto, Uranus and Saturn the benign potentials don’t always get a look in as a first option and sometimes the benefits of these can only be identified in hindsight as their initial disruption, annihilation or deconstruction of life is so much in your face that no other nuanced reading of what’s going on has a chance to arise in consciousness.
• The energy on the 11^th sets up potentially violent/aggressive interactions – or at least angry communications with an underlying power struggle

Jupiter and Venus then have a merging experience in Scorpio-Aries on the 13^th and 14th - at the same time as Saturn and Venus are in mutual antipathy – passionate and consensual for some but high risk and fatal for others. Saturn is a terminating force or at least creating cold, distant, rejection. Some will see the need to end their association; some relationships ended by external forces. Interaction will for many be threaded with stinging aggression on this day.  Best to stay home alone. Or experience this virtually – watching a celluloid enactment – to use up the energy.

New Moon at 27 degrees Pisces on the 17th has Uranus tagged on at 27 Aries. 27 is a known potent degree as this is the position at which the centre of our milky way galaxy rotates -27 Sagittarius – and repeated observations have led The Profiler to a proposition that when planets sit at 27 degrees they perform a step-down of those mega forces at the galactic centre – and consequences are observable in the natural forces and sentient beings here on earth.

Typically there is much disturbance of energies under these conditions –expressing environmentally as severe or extreme weather, extreme human behaviour.

The March New Moon has Venus at 12 degrees.

So Venus is strongly involved in the Sun-Moon-Uranus combined energies. 

Disrupted relationships. Sudden change in relationships.

The 27-12 formula extends to a wider orb of positions -especially  the range 25-29 degrees straddling the 27 position being considered strongly effective. This range then activates 10-14 degrees so the resonant pairings are 25-10,  26-11, 27-12, 28-13, 29-14

The March New Moon has 3 factors at 14 degrees –lunar nodes, Mercury, Neptune while Mars is at 29 degrees

In human affairs Mars-Neptune often expresses as drug/alcohol energy as well as deceitful dishonest behaviour, sexual fantasy, porn addiction. Any of these issues or related behaviour could be exposed and discussed with some drama under the lunar phase from mid March-mid April.

• Environmentally the disturbance is always about unbalanced natural forces –which cannot be separated from human imbalances and extremes as both planes of existence are in mutual feedback.
• Our behaviour towards each other is worsening our environment far more than through observable and measurable pollution.

• All four forces of nature are activated strongly in March: Fire through Aries and Mars, Earth through Saturn, Wind/Air through Uranus and Neptune influencing Water - and so where the balances are not in place then any or all of these can be eruptive, violent, excessive, destructive. 

Knowing the potential climate/weather hazards in your own environment and how to be prepared in advance for the most likely elemental risk is common sense.

• March 2018 is not a period suitable for taking chances or risks whether that is with the forces of nature or with people who are about to tip or explode.

Late in March Saturn and Mars together in Capricorn are at 90 degrees to the Sun in Aries while Venus is together with Uranus in Aries.

• The stresses and strains of relating are on high alert in all contexts not just personal and private but in business and political contexts.

• More partnerships, marriages, associations and contexts where negotiation and interaction are required are subject to sudden break-up or breakdown.

Fundamentally the cardinal signs [Aries Libra Cancer Capricorn] are all about relating – to Self to Other to those needing to be nurtured guided or managed.

The onus is on all of us to get this right and the deterioration in this fundamental familial structure has already shown us how much can go wrong in the world when we lack even basic relating skills such as empathy, support, negotiation, compromise. 

Further than this is the necessity of passing through the appropriate stages of emotional development in order to function as a balanced adult. 

This critical issue has been overlooked in a world driven by economic agendas and financial pressures but when the fundamental unit of human society, the family, fails in its purpose, we all fail.

Saturn in Capricorn for a 3 year period will raise this issue of the family-society connection.

At those periods every year when Saturn is at odds with Venus or the Sun relating issues and responsibilities will be confronted by many.  

Conflicts between people over the preferencing of the Self over the responsibilities to others - the need to move away from child-like self-interest and towards an adult role prioritising support of others – one partner telling the other “you need to grow up” “you’re a parent now –start acting like it” –these are the voices of Saturn saying Times Up – definitely a hard awakening for those embedded in the Selfie era of self glorification above everything and everyone –and there are connections to the original #TimesUp calling out those who place no boundaries on their own conduct towards others. 

People who show no restraint are effectively acting like unaccountable children operating within adult bodies in adult environments. Time to work on the mismatch.

Firstly 2018 January-February-March-April all contain indicators that severe natural forces are activated in the environment and in human affairs -with the theme of structural collapse persisting in all contexts -ranging from natural structures such as hillsides, shorelines, riverbanks and vegetation to humanly built structures, human networks whether digital or social, business or political. All aspects of our lives and environments are undergoing a massive change and renewal. 
This is a very long term process and the pattern outlined and sustained in the first 4-5 months has activation potential through to August 2018. However a further cycle begins in 2018 signifying earth changes. When Uranus is in Taurus [mid May-early November 2018, early March 2019-late April 2026] the earth itself and its products and related industries, human production of goods, sources of income, our relationship to money and possessions, the physical/material in general are all likely to be expressed in new, different, innovative ways or become very changed. Miniaturisation is one of those processes -objects shrinking, the digitisation and virtualisation or other physical objects/experiences is another. Lab-food or experimental food or unusual -eg insects as food -all of these things already being floated as all collective events cast their shadow before they fully arrive.

SATURN energy your best guide to the meanings

Often depicted as an "h" with a crossbar, the glyph for Saturn is said to represent the reaper's scythe - harvesting both the results of harvest and those of time

A useful guide to Saturn & arguably the best approach is not to laboriously detail sign by sign expressions, but to focus on what Saturn offers the three modality groups -the Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable signs - which express different uses of the energy and organize the total 12 signs into their relevant essential shared meaning.

First: what energy does Saturn offer?
The association with karma is undeniable, the nature of universal law, cause and effect, the outcomes of actions, moderated by time.
Saturn delivers a restricting, restraining force in the context it appears in. This can have both positive and negative outcomes.
None of us is truly free despite the belief in the right of freedom, the right of free speech. There are always counter forces that require a response.
Saturn is the energy that reminds us of our responsibilities to our structured society, ways in which we need to control or manage our conduct.

On a more positive note, the Saturn potential is intended to be in loco parentis: to function as a guiding, mentoring or nurturing force in a working or societal context, a benevolent parental politician rather than a severe, austere enforcer.
We all carry Saturn energy, just in different contexts and intensities.
The more Saturnian people are likely in this lifetime to have to address a lot of accumulated karma.

After the introduction to the themes that Saturn energy generates now look to the 12 zodiac signs in their 3 different modes of using those themes

CARDINAL SATURN

The signs Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn all concern issues of relating and the roles and duties associated.

Those who resist rather than committing to the demands of Saturn in a Cardinal sign can experience difficulties with all of the major relationship categories, unhappy alone, unsuccessful in partnerships, avoidance of the parental role or finding parenthood too burdensome; never attaining career potential - all on account of not knowing the roles and duties that apply
 Saturn positioned in close contact or in angular relationship to Moon, Venus or Mars can also express these themes even if the birth Saturn is not in a Cardinal sign.
Saturn is in the Cardinal sign Capricorn in the period December 2017-December 2020 and so the Cardinal Saturn themes will be highly profiled in that period.

FIXED SATURN

The signs Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius are all concerned with survival and security
The focus of survival and security can encompass, for any of these four signs, the basics of food, money, possessions and usually the earthly elements -land, the natural world. All are placed at such high value that a tendency to excess -eg hoarding or excessive collecting & storing needs to be curbed
The survival instinct is usually pronounced, fighting to the death.
To achieve survival the fixed signs can resort to extreme control behaviours
The bonds of love and or friendship are regarded as critical in their sense of security due to the support and attention provided.
Group support, in general, as a means of security is valued
When Saturn is in a fixed sign, the ultimate resolution of issues of insecurity is to feel independently energetically secure, not overly dependent on external possessions or support systems. Without an inner secure axis, the sense of security may be significantly threatened, a feeling of death, impending loss or near death [re self or a significant other] is pervasive or highly influential in the life.
A critical aspect of survival is threatened [food, oxygen, love, support, money etc] or always feels threatened.
Personality complexes develop related to the fears associated with threatened survival; trying to dominate, control, monopolise people or resources; obsessive-compulsive disorder, hoading, collecting, excessive consumerism or consumption - are typical examples 
Saturn in angular or close contact to Sun or Pluto will add these themes in addition even when Saturn is not in a fixed sign at birth
Saturn is in the fixed sign Scorpio in the period October 2012-September 2015 and so fixed Saturn themes will be highly-profiled in that time frame.

In addition it is the ideal time for people born with Fixed Saturn to evolve their inner sense of security.

MUTABLE SATURN

The signs Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, Virgo all describe the workings of the mind, thought or mental processes and the need to restructure the operation of the mind
Saturn here offers experiences that teach the calming of the grasshopper mind, the development of discipline and concentration in order to develop a mature belief system; the focussing of the mind which enables analysis and thereafter the ability to pass on knowledge, to teach; the deepening and expansion of the mind to spread far and wide into states of consciousness apart from the everyday attunement.
Meditation and mindfulness, in depth study are examples of mental discipline.
Resisting the processes of mental discipline and focus in order to restructure the mind is likely to create a negative mental disposition: depressive, gloomy, critical thoughts, inhibited communication, nihilism, a loss of belief, scepticism
Saturn in relationship to Mercury, Jupiter or Neptune -by angular position or close contact, will add this theme even if Saturn is not also in a mutable sign .

 Saturn is in the mutable sign Sagittarius in the period September 2015-December 2017 so Mutable Saturn themes will be highly-profiled in that era. 
In addition it is the ideal time for people born with Mutable Saturn to evolve their mental development.
 

The Saturn Eras

Saturn is at the very end of fixed sign Scorpio in August 2015 and will be followed by a 2 year mutable period, in Sagittarius.

Because of the inherent connection of Saturn to governments, politics and business and consequently being entwined in the economics and social conditions of any society, the 2-3 year period of transition through different expressions of the Saturn principles is important to reflect upon.

Saturn in Scorpio October 2012-September 2015 will have an impact on people's material well-being, their sense of material and physical security. Gains and losses occur but these are not the essence of what this part of the cycle is about.
Impacts upon economics, finances, income, food supply, food production, commodity values are all expected. 
A decline in values, losses, scarcities.
The shift is away from external dependencies and securities back to the basics, away from excesses, emphasising the creation of inner empowerment linked to following natural cycles rather than those imposed by humans. Of course only some will respond to the best potentials. Greed will still exist, but more will fall prey to its risks in a down cycle such as this.
The period from late June-early September 2015 reflects a major economic turning point - as will in time become very evident.

Saturn in Sagittarius September 2015-December 2017 will place significant emphasis on how people use their minds. 
This is a preparation, study and research period. 
Those who wish to benefit can use this time to begin practices related to any form of mind training -that might involve any kind of focussed concentration or deep thought information, theories, beliefs, meditation.
Failure to use this opportunity will see some respond to an uprising in negative or repressive beliefs, even a rejection of belief, an existential crisis or nihilistic position. 
En masse this will reflect the state of larger socio-economic forces.
The energies affecting growth are restrained -ranging from defects in the essential seed or plant, conditions affecting the irrigation or watering and the resulting poor or neglible produce. This period of difficulty also impacts all human systems or production processes that symbolically replicate the natural cycle.  
Conditions related to the creation of floods and droughts will be a significant factor at certain points: late November early Dec 2015, May, June, July, August, September 2016. Hemisphere differences and localised patterns will be the clue as to whether it is more likely to be an excess or deficit of water in your area.

Saturn in Capricorn December 2017-December 2020 

This marks a period when Saturn is in the sign and functional modality when its best potentials are possible.

Critical responsibilities, roles and duties arise.

Consider the protocols, ceremonies and conduct that surround the British Royal Family. Their traditional roles and duties [somewhat sullied in recent decades] are the essence of conservative moral conduct, informed by the responsibility of diligent service.

At its best, Saturn in Capricorn is the good citizen [Good Samaritan] who leads by example, mentoring or helping others to improve their circumstances, and to support those in need. 

Profound political restructuring is expected in this period - involving nations across the globe, not just western democracies - changes of government, changes within government, changes in the methods of governance which at its best will reflect the lessons learnt from years of political turmoil, dysfunction and loss of meaning, brought to a head in the 2012-2016 period.  

SATURN RETURN 

most people will experience the return of Saturn to the exact position it was at their birth, at least twice during their adult years.

Usually around age 30 and age 60 [ check your personal chart for exact dating] significant milestone events will occur which reflect the meaning of the sign, modality group, position and angular connections of your birth Saturn.
Knowing the sign Saturn was in when you were born is a portion of the full picture, which needs professional input.
Saturn's sign will show you which modality group theme you are destined to encounter repeatedly in this life - coming to a head especially at the time of the Saturn Return but also whenever strongly activated by one of the outer planets from Jupiter to Pluto.
