Climate & Human Crisis

As an astrologer the future is always of interest. Consideration of the changes and consequences related to global climate is high on our collective agenda with daily reminders that significant forces are in process. All life on this planet is being impacted and as humans it is natural to look for meaning when an existential crisis arises.
I have a special interest in researching the galactic forces that deliver severe weather. I feel very attuned to the state of the planet and it's recurrent responses to the sun the moon the eclipses. This all makes perfect sense to those who think on a large scale. We occupy a tiny place in a huge system which in itself is minuscule within the larger universe. We know so little...but over millenia we have some knowledge of repeated themes occurring related to the prominence of particular planets.

The watchers amongst us know that the world changes significantly when certain planets occupy certain signs.
The three signs at the end of the zodiac are Capricorn Aquarius and Pisces. These represent the last sector of development of consciousness on a collective level.
After ideas beliefs philosophies and faiths have been explored (the Sagittarius stage) practical action is required consistent with those mental positions (Capricorn stage). Then comes the realisation that we do best when we are friendly towards life and all beings. We see can we work well in groups for the common good (Aquarius stage). After this a growing appreciation of our commonality our sameness our interconnected lives and existence our link to all other life. Ultimately this extends to the cosmos the whole of existence. From these awarenesses compassion is born and harm is no longer an option. (Pisces stage)

These are the ideals indicated as an aspirational pathway for humanity. At present in general we fall well short and the destructive consequences of that are clear.

From where we are now the most relevant planets can be tracked through this developmental sector from Capricorn to Pisces past the middle of this century.

One current factor outside this scheme but playing a major role in the planet is Uranus in the earth sign Taurus. This planet is the great change-maker through sudden disruptions and unexpected events. In Taurus this is the state of Planet Earth and the soil and what it produces and feeds.
Uranus is in a 7 year cycle in Taurus till 2026.
By now you will see 2026 standing out as a gateway year.
Pluto will be left largely in charge as it transits the Aquarius and Pisces zones
Pluto is recognised symbolically as the Phoenix arising from the ashes ..but the meltdown is always stage one...and Pluto's long period in Capricorn from late 2008-2024 is the start.
The purpose and meaning of all of this is growth evolution development...but these all have a price - what you have to change give up and let die.

This introduction gives a timeline for these processes which are occurring in the context of globally significant processes - one being climate impacts - others are socioeconomic and political.

This post arise as a response to an interview between Daniel a Buddhist and Jem Bendell an academic who has committed to climate action and who wants to promote the notion of adaptation to whatever unfolds. He sees social collapse as inevitable and therefore promotes the contemplative and spiritual paths as well as the psychological and mental health support necessitated for many.
His focus is how we are going to help each other.
To me this reflects the Capricorn Aquarius Pisces trio - the structural changes necessitated the groups and networks engaged the commonality acknowledged all for collective benefit.

The spiritual imperative ranks highest for me in terms of adaptation and that source of guidance serves to inform practical decisions more soundly than any responses born out of panic fear or desperation.
By 2026 the picture will be undeniably clear as to choices and what needs to change.

Uranus Aries & the North California wildfire November 2018

On November 7 2018 (Universal Time) the transit of Uranus moved back into Aries after a brief sojourn in Taurus. The Aries revisit will last 4 months then this significant period of Uranus in Taurus which began in May 2018 will have full reign for a full seven years -see dedicated posts.

The very extreme North California wildfire -named Camp Fire erupted within hours of Uranus re-entering the hot fiery sign of Aries and pushed to fierce intensity by Uranus favourite medium -the wind.

The entry of Uranus back into Aries was amplified by an exact angle to Jupiter -both in the 29 degree range -and at the same time as the lunar nodal axis entered the Cancer-Capricorn polarity [also at 29 degrees]
Jupiter always magnifies/enlarges/increases any energy it contacts and this was the case in this event.
A lot of high profile residents affected have reported the fire threat -which has been given a collection of hashtags

With the nodal axis involved it is turning point energy affecting a mass of people.
Jupiter was in Scorpio -the sting at the end of the tail at 29 degrees -bringing a lot of potential for destruction, transformation and death
The nodes in Cancer-Capricorn show the en masse extent of effects on homes and families [Cancer] as well as the Capricorn-related social and physical structures, infrastructure.
This passage of the nodes in these 2 signs in a global context in the 18 months from Nov 2018-May 2020 will continue to deliver ongoing issues regarding homes, families, homelessness -with the themes locked in at the November 7 onset of this potent energy mix, being live for activation at multiple periods in that time frame till 2020.
Major fundamental restructuring, rebuilding and restoration of communities will be required -both on the level of physical/material necessities and in terms of the comprehension of what families , homes and parenting mean to society -their role and their psychological value - much of which has been lost, overlooked in favour of economic pressures and monetary greed.

The wildfire risk in the period Nov 2018 to early March 2019 will remain extreme in diverse global locations with related potential for such events as well as heat and drought conditions.
One related environmental aspect then takes hold under Uranus in Taurus - in already vulnerable places the energy of the soil and the earth itself undergoes widespread change - with resulting impacts on crops trees and vegetation in general - especially in areas where depletion is already evident. Next in line in the 7 year period is far more land-mass structural changes such as related to tectonic shifts.

In extreme contrast to the dry influence is the combined energies of Jupiter & Neptune - with the keywords excess and water indicating that the drought-deluge extremes continue to be in effect.
This manifests as extreme rain and flooding events.
In the coming year: mid January, week 3 of June, week 4 of September 2019 all have the Jupiter-Neptune effect and this will apply in diverse global locations where this potential is already apparent.

Awareness regarding where to live is a primary survival consideration in this era of powerful natural elements being very disturbed.

There are various forms of record keeping and data sets which enable the detection of repeated cycles of relevance to issues of weather, climate & extreme events affecting our planet.

For data there are online ephemeris such as astro.com or Sun to Sedna if you do not have a print version.

When researching significant storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, drought,floods or any extreme natural or weather event,patterns related to cycles are evident.

Be assured though that no one single indicator is involved. It is more common to see several reinforcing factors amplifying the energy into a tipping of the balance.

Balance is the most relevant keyword - when there is too much or too little of a relevant factor - eg temperature, moisture -then the system responds

System is equally important since everything is part of a system -from the smallest quantum environment to the seemingly limitless galactic space. Forgetting that Planet Earth is part of the Solar System is the first big error people make in trying to understand our environment.

The data for the 1931 earthquake is:

All of these positions average out or meet at a midpoint around 15.5 degrees.

The extra factor is the opposing points at which the moon is crossing the ecliptic -termed the lunar nodes

The four zodiac signs involved - Aries, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn comprise a set of signs and when in full alignment form the Cardinal Cross

Historic records show Jupiter and Uranus aligned together in conjunction are enough to activate powerful natural forces.

They also have potent effects when arranged at right angles to each other as in 1931

[ the 2011 February quake in Christchurch NZ & the March 2011 Japan quake/tsunami all occurred in the wake of the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in Pisces -which was in effect when the sequence started in September 2010.

Feb  21 2011 also saw an exact Mercury-Mars-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius

March 2011 saw Uranus at right angles to the lunar nodes

Jupiter was also at right angle to Pluto

The historic records are full of researchable dates which show ingredients such as these over and over.

Another commonly seen sensitive trigger factor seems to be 25-29 degrees in the Mutable set of signs [Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces,Virgo]

The direct connection here is that our galaxy is positioned at 27 Sagittarius [GC] and when significant planets [Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto or the lunar nodes in particular] activate 27 SAG it coincides with galactic forces funneled into earth's atmosphere

August 2005 -Katrina - Jupiter activates the lunar nodes in Aries-Libra. Jupiter-Uranus positions are centred* at 27 SAG -activating the GC. Extreme wind, extreme flooding.

Magnetic Reversal of the Sun is underway

The sun undergoes cyclic magnetic reversals - the positive polarity [green] becomes reversed with the negative polarity [purple] over time
The process occurs at around 11 year intervals, marking the midway point in a solar sunspot cycle,called solar max.
Solar cycles are also of around 11 years duration.
NASA says
"The domain of the sun's magnetic influence (also known as the 'heliosphere') extends billions of kilometers beyond Pluto. 
Changes to the field's polarity ripple all the way out to the Voyager probes, on the doorstep of interstellar space."

The sun functions on one level as a magnetic dynamo. The reversal sees the field strength drop to zero then each polarity reformulates in the alternate value.
The Earth responds similarly to its own internal dynamo, but reversals occur in a vastly longer cycle - over hundreds of thousands of years. Most recently the magnetic field strength of Earth has been noted to be in decline since 1840.
With space science still being in relative infancy lacking a substantial body of historical references, much is to be discovered regarding the impacts of solar induced spaceweather impacting Earth & our climate, especially the issue of weather extremes.

The exaggerated undulations of the solar current sheet during field reversal bring to mind the distortions of the Earth's atmospheric jet streams.

full moon july 2011 interpretation These are the reasons (mostly) Google searches came upon Astroblog -a combination of astrology, weather, climate & natural events - tsunami & earthquakes.  Since astrological analysis can be applied to anything, posts are added to this blog in response to topical matters of widespread interest.  Soon there will be an uptick in people wanting to know more about 2012, since there has been much published in print and online pondering the question regarding the Mayan Calendar and December 2012 marking an End Times scenario.  I keep an open mind regarding that period coinciding specifically with markedly challenging events. What is more important is to see what is unfolding now, day by day regarding the environment, politics and the global economy. Make no mistake, 2012 is a big year for us collectively, but there are many indicators pointing to this, irrespective of where the sun is in relationship to the Galactic Centre. By scrolling through my archives you will find many related posts on these topics, but for now, start to look at how you can make changes in your life towards greater self sufficiency, simpler more modest material goals, down-sizing, relocating, avoiding risky investments. The writing is on the wall and the images are on the cards. You may be amongst the fortunate few who are mentally prepared to cope with radical changes to come.

The 1960's & the Twenty-Teens - the past revisited

Though this addresses the farce of American political democracy, which has created a corporate state, the same chilling warning applies in New Zealand, with finance trader John Key as Prime minister.


Many living through the second decade of the new millennium will recognise a resurgence of issues that they witnessed in the 1960's, or at least learned about in school.

People remember the era, which led into the seventies style, as famous for hippies, peace-love demos, LSD, dope, anti-war protests and a score of human rights movements -blacks, women and gays in particular led the charge against oppression by straight white men. Many hoped that all the hard work would lead to a brave new world, but into the twenty-teens we hear global reports of more slavery now, than even before in the history of humanity, with that primarily being girls and women sold into sex slavery, not simply household duties; we have despotic leaders across the planet, from Fiji to Libya, to Africa and the two fastest growing global economies, China and India, not known for human rights protection, are set to call the shots in complex trade deals. So you can be forgiven for taking a somewhat pessimistic view of the plight of all species and our collective capacity to cultivate a climate of humanity in dealing with each other, person to person, nation to nation.

On the other hand, we have clearly entered a phase of continual global turbulence on every level:  the main headline grabbers are political upheaval, economic upheaval and environmental or climate related upheaval. So something is up...and it's big.

Astrologers have the advantage of being able to research cycles from the past and into the future in respect of current circumstances. When we look at current complex planetary combinations we can see a revisiting of the revolutionary impulses which erupted in the 1960's, especially 1965-1967 when  powerful lineups occurred featuring  Pluto and Uranus aligned, Pluto and Saturn opposed,  Uranus and Saturn  opposed, Chiron trine Neptune, Chiron conjunct Saturn, Saturn and Chiron square Jupiter, Pluto opposite Chiron, Uranus opposite Chiron, Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron in a grand water trine, Uranus conjunct Jupiter - both in Libra.
Effectively, all of the outer planets, and the then undiscovered asteroid Chiron were in the mix, overturning old ways of being and relating, opening new doors in our collective shift towards more enlightened co-existence. But of course this wasn't the end of the process, because humans, clearly, change very slowly.

So we now are seeing the re-emergence of Revolution, Phase 2 if you like, in the modern era, as the pro-democracy movement spreads across the Middle East and even as far as China, the re-emergence of feminist issues - equal pay, anti-rape demonstrations, gay marriage. But along with the humanitarian issues being once again on the table, powerful forces are set to restructure society and our planet in ways that are profound and enduring.

The liveable environment of the world we live in is vastly changed from the physical nature of our planet in the 1960's. A polluted, degraded and climatically altered world is now a key player in our future existence, so issues regarding our physical survival are also critical now, whether due to crop failure from drought, flood or cyclones or land loss due to tsunami, earthquakes, landslips or sinkholes. The modern environmental movement was propelled along by concerns addressed in the 1960's and beyond, but little progress has been willingly made. Mother Nature, it seems will have the final call, in response to human apathy.

People are looking for more natural and trusted food sources in the twenty-teens, but there is not yet any mass movement back to the land. That may not happen. Instead more people are likely to grow their own food. Drugs are prominent again but in a far nastier way. People still want to escape aspects of a world that is seen as unsatisfying and demoralizing. Demonstations and protests are now more likely to be about economic issues than peace or anti-nuclear sentiments.
In essence, the world has degenerated significantly and the issues now more critical, since they are so long overdue for an overhaul.

In the twenty-teens, starting from 2011 and extending to early 2016 we see a sustained locked in pattern between Pluto and Uranus in particular - the key players in the 1960's. It is the length of this pattern which enables the changes to be profound and enduring. In the 1960's issues relating to employment, health, nutrition, diet along with humanitarian and social justice causes were prominent with the Virgo-Pisces zodiac positions. Now it is Capricorn versus Aries, firstly, with triggers from Libra and Cancer evident in 2011. Pluto in Capricorn will result in widespread institutional restructuring at all levels of governance and bureaucracy.
Capricorn is the status quo. Uranus in Aries is anger fuelled anarchy. Expect more challenges to all control systems from governments to prisons. ( prison fires, detention centre riots are all set to accelerate along with the everyday citizens exploding against civil repression and austerity measures)
Libra implicates financial institutions.
Cancer implicates families & households.
Libra is also about all types of partnership arrangements, from the professional, financial to the personal and marital.
Aries is about personal issues, the independent self, going solo.
Capricorn is the crust of the earth and the tectonic plates
Aries is the hot magma centre
Uranus in Aries squared off with Pluto in Capricorn brings increased seismicity and volcanism
2013-2014 Saturn linking to Pluto and Uranus will see push-pull forces affecting the process of change. Resistance or repression in the face of protest is one scenario. This period also has environmental implications due to earth stresses.
From 2013 into 2014 when Jupiter is in Cancer linking to Uranus and Pluto, opportunities for women become greatly enhanced though challenges to the system are likely to be necessitated. The Old World Order will not give up easily.
2015-2016 water supply issues, drought.
2016-2017 transformations in banking and other financial institutions.

The indicators suggest further economic adversity will precede a thorough overhaul of the global economic system. The challenges we continue to face have direct effects on people's homes and families. 

With such a thorough working over in store, be assured that few on the planet will evade the implications. The peak effect will be in 2020 when Pluto and Saturn conjunct in Capricorn, ushered in by the first lunar eclipse in January 2020:


A Saturn-Pluto synodic cycle, in general, will be about societal structures of consciousness and how we learn about responsible use of power. It will be about our administrative systems governing the use of power. These cycles can also initiate a dismantling or destructive process of long-standing established administrative constructs and systems of belief so that we can evolve our societal structures. In the process, this can articulate as power struggles, wars and the like; but Saturn and Pluto will ultimately demand we take responsibility for the discord and destruction we have created. quoted from Nick Fiorenza


Other than addressing how power is used and the responsibilities that come with power and authority, our relationship to money, possessions and materialism in general is being challenged, because a stronger spiritual imperative is simultaneously coming through Chiron, Neptune along with the social justice instincts of Uranus - both influences strong in the long-term ahead. People ( and all sentient beings) ahead of profits and similar notions will assist us to relinquish our imbalanced relationship regarding money, the natural world and each other. Changing financial and material values could see stronger family values as people return to the home based unit in preference to the things that money can buy and the sort of sacrifices made to acquire stuff.
Ultimately it is all about cycles so don't be surprised to see changes that evoke the styles and behaviours of the distant past as we work again on the essentials of what it means to be human and to live on a planet.

Facing the Future

Those who are keen to track the timeline of future climate/environmental events are understandably keen to know dates to plan around since the effects upon us all are anticipated to be major, unprecedented and therefore exceed our known experience.

I have a holistic view of how systems work which means I believe that there will be more than one indicator of things changing for our planet. In this context I would suggest that there will be other planetary behaviour in our traditionally known solar system, that reinforces, backs up or contributes to the effects expected to come about through the actions of any one factor including the mysterious Planet X interacting magnetically with earth.

By looking at what other planetary activity there is expected over the next few years specific times of challenging and disruptive energy effects can be timetabled. These effects impact us on earth and therefore are worth contributing to the overall picture.

With this in mind I have searched the records of future planetary transits, to look in particular at the effects of the  planets known historically to be involved in major events on earth – Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Mars, the asteroid Chiron, as well as eclipses of the Sun and Moon, the Moon’s Nodes, interactions with the Galactic Centre and the interactions any of these have with the Sun.

For the sake of simplicity for the everyday reader I have omitted a lot of detail in order to provide the bare bones analysis of what I understand to be likely times and effects experienced on earth:

By looking for the key themes you will see a pattern of unfoldment.

As per the Zetas (http://poleshift.ning.com/ ), The Great Equalizer is a term for the Pole Shift. The period November 2009-October 2012 reflects this theme through other contributing planetary patterns.

July 2010- January 2011 and with late Sept-early Oct 2010 emphasised: a major emphasis on peoples home, families and capacity to nurture others. We have already begun to see homes and families destroyed in great numbers.

Global conditions continue to be challenged by stress resulting in earthquakes, destruction by natural elements and extreme conditions of imbalance,

 The signature magnetic field patterns resonate with vulnerable regions (and people) on earth.
