Sagittarius profile: Sinead O'Connor - The Torment

Breaking News

On 26 July 2023 it was announced that Sinead had died - subsequent to another very challenging period after the suicide of her 17 year old son in 2022.

Sinead described son Dylan as "the one person who loved me unconditionally"

For millions of fans Sinead represented not only a very powerful talent in the music industry but also a representative of the lifelong challenges faced by all who have suffered the severe wounding of childhood abuse.

The transit of Pluto in late Capricorn became sustained since early 2022 - creating a very stressful angle to Sinead's 26 Libra Moon -which is natally semisextile her Neptune-Mercury in Scorpio. This pairing is trined to the deeply sensitive water combination of  Chiron-Saturn in Pisces. 

Intense pressure on her very fragile emotional stability would have ensued after the shock of losing her son.

Returning to London early July after a long absence Sinead appeared to be full of plans for reviving her career.

The buildup of Cardinal energy by mid July 2023 saw Sun in Cancer intensify in opposition to Pluto - adding to the load of emotional pain inherent in the Scorpio and Pisces water factors in Sinead's chart.

It's hard to overlook Sinead as a charismatic performer, with a great voice and a tortured soul.

Irish singer Sinead O’Connor has experienced an extensive successful career as a singer-songwriter since the 1980's

She has also come into public awareness because of her beliefs regarding social injustice, religion,her personal angst around family relationships.

With considerable family dysfunction and personal trauma pre-dating her music career, Sinead then experienced further pain in her relationships with partners and the children born of those unions.

So three significant strands can be identified:

Sinead’s chart shows in the red triangles a highly significant T-square pattern that puts the personality under extreme pressure.

Three pairings of energy loop together within a narrow positional range involving 3 mutable signs:

So here you have a major loop of mental pressure activated in the 19-23 degrees in the mutable signs – emphasised anytime any current planet is transiting that degree range – which is a common and repeated event in some instances. The Sun does it four times a year – mid March, mid June, mid September and mid December.  The Moon does it four times a month. 

But it is the outer planets that hold the most capacity to cause crisis – the energies triggered will be significant for Sinead throughout her lifetime when Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto and the asteroid Chiron transit through 19-23 degrees of any of the four mutable signs Gemini Sagittarius,Virgo, Pisces ( the wider range from 18-24 degrees will be alive in terms of triggering power)

For this reason the period April 2015-April 2017 when Chiron progresses then retrogrades in the range 18-24 Pisces marks a particularly demanding period for Sinead. 

This is yet anothr occasion when multiple psychological complexes involving woundedness and pain are activated concerning personal relationships (Venus) sense of self (Sun), limitations and control (Saturn), disempowerment (Pluto),  individual expression & injustice (Uranus)

But each time in her life that this same intense pressure is applied, she is being urged to find a way out, a way through, a way beyond.

It's not intended as a punishment regime or a torture - it is a powerful collection of energetic forces urging her to find resolution through discovering new solutions, new behaviours, new choices.

But there is even more in the picture due to the connections made by Mercury and Neptune to the major mutable pattern.

Mercury and Neptune were at her birth in the fixed water sign Scorpio and in the mutable water sign Pisces location of the chart = double emotional depth, intensity = a flooding of the thoughts and the mind making clarity and reason hard to find - so a different part or function of the mind is asking to be utilised: the spiritual level of consciousness. 

Faith, belief and spirituality

Neptune and Pisces spiritualise the mind, making religion, faith very much a mental preoccupation for Sinead –though a stressful matter due to the other demanding pattern of planets that feeds into this issue: faith and religion for her are beset by the pain of restriction, issues of disempowerment, loss of freedom. 

To be raised in association with the rigors of Catholic thought has been fraught with difficulty, distress but she has the rebellious spirit drawn from the Uranus influence and being born a Sagittarian has its gifts. 

The Sagittarian has a mission to explore widely the potentials of the physical, mental and spiritual – so a pathway through sport, exercise, study, travel and belief is a natural progression over a lifetime, to acquire broad experience, knowledge, wisdom and ultimately – to practice of a set of morals, ethics or beliefs about life or the nature of our existence – coming to terms with what it means to be human within a larger cosmos.

This recognition of personal place within the whole can come under the faith-based religions such as Christianity or Islam or under the philosophy based beliefs such as Buddhism.

Sinead obviously has considerable karma with the realm of Catholicism but a reorientation and reclaiming of her spirituality in a more personally appropriate form is not beyond the realm of possibilities for her. 

Saturn is the force that keeps her in traditional relationship to the mindset of Catholicism –but she has that most rebellious energy, Uranus opposing Saturn. 

Pluto the transformational force is conjuncting Uranus and also opposing Saturn – giving Sinead an amazing potential to overthrow the patriarchal (Saturnian) religious domination that tortures her mind.

And make no mistake, this is a battle for the mind and in recent years the rebellion of youth has given way to high profile indicators of much mental distress.

In the meantime, Saturn’s 2016-2017 transit through Sagittarius will provide further major challenges she has to win in order to survive. She has to replace her original spiritual base with new foundations, building something more personalised and more relevant, to usurp and transcend the damage done to her spiritual consciousness as a result of her involvement with Catholicism.

Fundamentally the challenge issued when personal responses arise during a Saturn experience, is to grow up, mature, act like an adult – but for a person suffering post traumatic stress disorder from emotional and physical abuse within her own family, developmental delays are automatic – the ideal progression from child to adult does not occur within the usual parameters of  typical life stages. Inadequate, neglectful or damaging forms of parenting create real life impediments –and Sinead is a clear example with this as she struggles herself as a mother.

Libra is the energy often found connected to people with musical talents –as instrumentalists or singers.

Libra is connected to balance and harmony - so these qualities not only apply to music, they also operate in the other territory of Venus -personal relationships.

Sinead has Moon and Mars in Libra – Mars made very prominent at the top of the chart and the Libran planet Venus is prominent in the big energy pattern outlined above, and due to the location that shows influences in the early weeks of her life.

The four mutable signs Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces are highlighted in June 2016 around the time of the 15 Gemini New Moon.

The mutable signs Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces are not only concerned with flow, movement, connection and communication in the physical environment:

the most important mutable territory resides in the processes of the mind.

The qualities of our thinking, our way of connecting by means of communication, the way our mind functions – all these things can be described by an appraisal of the mutable signs in a personal astrology.

June 2016 Mutable Opportunity

When planets are transiting through a mutable phase, the energy is at its most flexible, changeable, morphable, transmutable –potentially an alchemist’s dream opportunity to change lead into gold.

Mutability means nothing is fixed and the range of multiple possible outcomes is greater than at any other time.

When energies inhabit all four signs in a connected group, they form a cross pattern and the closer they are to being at exact opposition or 90 degree angle the stronger the tension requiring resolution.

In early June the mutable energies cluster around 15 degrees but range from 12-17 degrees – so tension will still be experienced, demanding relief.

The challenge involves balancing the mind through addressing the ways of thinking that determine behaviour.

The mutable mind energies will bring to people’s conscious mind that certain behaviours are not working well –and that their conduct is causing problems in their various relationships.

The lunar nodal axis combined with Jupiter and Neptune shows how to resolve the resistance and challenges aroused by self restraint. 

People who are accustomed to being inconsiderate of others or who rarely think before they speak or who detest self censorship are most likely to need to rise to the challenge and opportunity given in early June.

The ideal resolution for these people is to undergo a maturing experience – which could be encountered in conversation or any form of correspondence with an older, wiser, mentor, a parent, an experienced adult.

So this is a young energy [Jupiter] needing a wise mature, nurturing energy for guidance [Saturn] and a compassionate life lesson with spiritually significant relevance for personal growth [Jupiter-Neptune]

Any life lesson conversation or correspondence [Gemini] that happens in the first week of June 2016 involving the mentoring of a younger energy by an older wiser energy is evoking the significance of the prevailing mutable mind energies to an extent that can be a turning point, a critical event in the lifetime of the individuals affected.

A noticeable chronological age difference can be evident between two people in this dynamic but is not essential –it is an energy difference that can exist even if the 2 people are close in age.

On the larger collective level

The issue of verbal self expression impacting on relationships is likely to be publicly demonstrated by high profile individuals who will serve as examples of what not to do –and what ought to be done or said. 

One obvious potential candidate for this is US Presidential aspirant Donald Trump who typifies the unrestrained verbosity of an undisciplined mind, frequently recorded in offensive attacking outbursts against individuals or groups. A person in his position of extreme power is likely to respect little counsel or moderating guidance. For this reason Trump is at risk of going too far and being served a significant lesson in a hard way by the collective -but for him this is more likely to occur in 2017.

Interestingly, Trump is a Gemini, born just before full moon in Sagittarius with Uranus in Gemini and the lunar nodal axis also in conjunction in Gemini-Sagittarius. LOL. Has anyone noticed the verbosity and blowhard exaggerations typical of The Don?

With these signifiers clustering within an 18-23 degree range in the two signs, we can watch December 2016-November 2017 to see what is delivered when Saturn in Sagittarius triggers accountability factors for Mr Trump.

On a mundane level of everyday activity involving flow, movement, communications
the June 5 Gemini New Moon associated with Venus in Gemini, Saturn in Sagittarius, Neptune in Pisces, Jupiter in Virgo and the lunar nodal axis in Virgo-Pisces is likely to be activated as early as June 2  -although at this point energies can be subterranean – or in this case as if sub-marine – out of sight, covert, as if under water because firstly Neptune will be activated by the Sun.
[note that lunar phases can be activated up to 3 days before exact New or Full and stay live as potentials for a lunar month, awaiting triggering by other planets in transit]

The role of Neptune in early June 2016 as a secret or disguised or hidden energy and when in connection to the amplifying force, Jupiter, the Pisces-Virgo combination can also morph into a mission driven by religious extremism – an ideology of faith [Neptune] taken to an excessive level [Jupiter]

So if there is a prevailing force in early June accentuating behaviour motivated by the dogma of fundamentalist faith [Neptune in Pisces opposed by Jupiter in Virgo] the remaining mutable signs Gemini and Sagittarius are implicated by being significantly tenanted at the same time by the building energies of the New Moon – Sun and Moon in Gemini, along with a conjunction to Venus in Gemini, and with Saturn in Sagittarius in opposition.

Gemini and Sagittarius in this context are capable of expression through all forms of transport.

• Gemini expresses through movement within an everyday scale: individual movement through time and space generated by the body alone – walking, jogging, cycling, individual and collective movement by means of powered transport – car, bus, train.
• Gemini movement tends to be limited to trips or short distance travel in the local area or within national borders.

• Sagittarian movement involves collective forms of transport that cross national borders. In most cases this involves travel by air into foreign territories.

Euro 2016 Football event June 10-July 10 being a sporting event also comes under the potentials of expression for Sagittarius.
BBC reports on a recognised threat for France with multiple locations programmed as venues.

[Cruise ship travel involves collective transport by water into foreign territories and is activated in addition by Neptune or Pisces energies]

Given that transport energies in diverse domains are triggered by mutable sign energies and that the hallmark of globally significant events [the lunar nodal axis] is in Virgo-Pisces, it is noted that a high potential risk is in effect particularly in the period June 3-5 2016 for a collectively significant destructive  [Saturn] event driven by fundamentalist ideology to impact on a group of people during the course of their travel.

A recent trend to target airplanes is highly consistent with Saturn in Sagittarius and is further emphasised by the prevailing energies in early June.
Problematical events involving maritime transport cannot be ruled out due to the involvement of Neptune and Pisces.

addendum:
When Neptune and Jupiter are in opposition (like May-June 2016) there is always likely to be events involving big volumes of water -excess rainfall, flooding, capsize and sinking of boats. Difficulties and tragedies are even more likely to arise with the May-June 2016 position of Saturn stressfully positioned at 90 degrees to both those opposed planets.

Being Part of A Solar System

A surprising number of Earthlings are oblivious to the fact that our little blue planet is spinning in an indescribably massive solar system in an exponentially much larger universe. It's mind-blowing to even try to think of the scale involved.

When I say oblivious I mean people don't join up the dots and accept that everything that happens in the universe has an impact on us -and more particularly in our own neighborhood, it isn't called a system for no reason. 

It's just that much of what happens is unseen, unheard, unwitnessed
...until a meteor crashes here or our dominant feature the Sun sends a storm in our direction.

Most people won't know when there's a storm that comes from the Sun because it only gets mass media coverage if a widely impacting event happens -like in 1989 when the electricity network of Quebec Canada was blown out

World governments know that a large magnetic storm generated by our Sun would cause global chaos in the now highly technological world we are dependent on - transport systems, telecommunications, and many services and systems would fail and take a long time to be restored.

On May 8 2016 a minor solar storm disturbed Earth's magnetic field for 27 hours in a row.
The resulting magnetic enhancement affects us in subsequent days - not only our environment, weather, but also human/animal behaviour -extremes occur because our brains have been basically zapped. More lightning occurs, more severe weather events -due to the electrical disturbance of the atmosphere.
NZ has witnessed since May 11 -a severe dog attack on a baby, 2 strong earthquakes, severe weather with lightning developing in the South Island and of course the Prime Minister lost the plot...
In Baghdad the worst violence so far in 2016 occurred on May 11 with multiple car bombs.
