The 3 mid year eclipses from June 1-July 1 2011 involve 3 main signs - Gemini, Sagittarius and Cancer.

Gemini is about movement and communication. It encompasses the transfer of information  - so verbal, written and telecommunications are in the mix. Movement also involves covering distance and Gemini's territory is local -the places you can walk, cycle or drive to. On the other hand it's related sign, by polarity resonance, is Sagittarius -and this sign corresponds to an expanded territory both in information and movement  -so it covers broadcasting, publishing and in current terms global mass communications. Because of the larger territory involved, SAG relates to movement over large distances, international travel.

Conversely Cancer is connected to all things domestic, both on a collective, national level, things that affect the general public and on a personal level the individual homes and families that populate a nation. Women and mothers, being historically closely linked to all things domestic, carry a strong connection to the Cancer themes, due to the over-riding resonance with the influence of the Moon and lunar cycles. (see Update June 25)

The interesting link between all 3 midyear eclipses ( noting also that the norm is only 2 eclipses in a set but there is an irregular cycle of triples midyear - solar pairs occurred every 18 years last century but the current pattern is 2000, 2011, 2018 - and lunar eclipse midyear pairs which can have a 7 year pattern are currently 2002, 2009, 2016, 2020) is the role played by Saturn, impacting significantly on the areas and their related objects/activities/functions, listed in the two paragraphs above.

Saturn is in close connection to the sun and moon of the June 1 eclipse chart, but it is the position opposite Uranus and both being square to Pluto, all in Cardinal signs. No chart factor operates in complete isolation because even a simple location has a link to a further energy. This destructive power trio ( read later entry, in italics, in the last section for likely effects)  links back to the eclipse sun-moon via Pluto having a midpoint to Mars at 11 Mutable -an exact square to the eclipse. Earth, water and movement all combine in a pattern that indicates flood events shifting the land and causing evacuation. ( Note that significant flooding & landslip events in China were reported in past days ) The added role of Neptune linked to Chiron is reinforcing the likelihood of ongoing flood events globally.

The UK chart has the eclipse running right across the central zone with the Moon in the prominent exact ascendant position and the north node combined make this a very powerful chart for public, domestic, home, women's and family issues connected to Sagittarian areas of overseas travel, publishing, broadcasting, universities and legal issues.

The Saturn-Uranus-Pluto pattern is still in effect - Saturn and Uranus both sitting in the travel zones - local and international and Pluto in the house of birth ( indicating rebirth/transformational experiences) and Saturn takes top spot placed in the highest position in the chart. Disruption of travel is a high probability.

Jupiter is very important to all the factors in SAG and it's 4th house location affects lunar/ Cancerian issues in a Neptune-Chiron way: globally:expect homes to flood in many locations & seismic/volcanic forces evoked by Uranus in Aries are indicated by this being the midpoint of the Jupiter-Neptune-Chiron energies. 

The hidden kicker is the semisquare from Saturn to Mars = a restrictive, restraining force on behaviour, particularly financial/ecomomic. Pressure to cut back from excess, indulgence, risky spending will have an impact on national and household budgets. AND see how Mars then ricochets over to the ascending complex involving Moon-Node -so Saturn will flow down via Mars to the Sagittarian themed issues.

In layperson's terms this means that overseas travel is likely to be restricted, delayed, interfered with, blocked, become troublesome and frustrating due to the slowing down influence of Saturn. ( in addition, Mars in Taurus is restricted by Saturn, while Jupiter in Taurus is linked to Neptune: this amounts to restraints placed on indulgent materialistic or financial dreams - in other words, cold hard reality says NO and caution says don't fall for scams) Read this blog too about Jupiter in 2011

So this eclipse continues the themes of difficulties re movement, travel and domestic issues as well as the other activations, the main ones having been noted.

Saturn in the accountancy sign of Libra is in the money and possessions house.

It is within range of a close link to the money and possessions energy at the MC -another indicator of financial and spending restraint and the same disruptive, destructive and radically transforming energy of the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto pattern remains in progress like a freight train shunting one carriage onto the next - or the highly visual domino effect, ensuring that this template holds strongly through 2011. The basics of global human endeavour: politics, economies, business, homes and families are all caught up in this vortex and replicated by natural forces.

What give Saturn a shot of cosmic caffeine is its close 90 degrees to the eclipse pair, indicating a big (negative) financial-material impact on people's homes, families, budgets. This is a global influence extending through 2011, the personal impact varying dependant on individual vulnerability in material and personal energetic terms

Neptune and Chiron continue the flood theme in vulnerable locations. ( more localised charts needed to assess how relevant this is in any particular place)

This assessment of standout points confirms that financial & environmental events will be of widespread prominence through the remainder of 2011 and that this eclipse trio has an emphasis in the first two events that includes issues related to local and international travel being impacted 

due to problematic issues

Update June 13
Due to the quake events in Christchurch NZ today this link is to the Thursday morning lunar eclipse chart for that location. The eclipse sits right across the ascendant, virtually in a flipped, mirror image of the UK chart This chart is for 8.15 am. An hour later when Cancer is on the Ascendant, Saturn will square it from 10 Libra. This ongoing saga may have more to unfold.

The ongoing Chile eruption referred to in a prior blog post has clearly manifested the impact of Saturn on travel as outlined above. Eclipse cycles extend to the next sequence, so activations for this mid-year trio can occur up till at least late November. The end of July-start of August sees a release factor for travel, both local and international.

Update June 25

Fascinating that  Employers group chief, Alasdair Thompson is being roundly criticised for justifying unequal pay for women  in NZ due to their inherent lunar  biology and  mothering responsibilities ( all related to the Cancer eclipse building to peak on July 12 (NZ)

Also the Slutwalk movement had its public debut in NZ today -being a further example of issues related to women ( Cancer-Moon) being controlled or repressed (Saturn) by the system (Saturn), represented by older male (Saturn) authority (Saturn) figures.

Expect, globally, more issues of female oppression or discrimination by authority figures to arise during the eclipse phase period which has started and extends to late 2011.

Saturn's interruptive, delaying, blocking and frustrating capacity is clearly at work in the southern hemisphere due to the volcanic ash cloud  impacting upon international travel.  A second phase is in progress now  reported in NZ and in Argentina. Extreme & Unusual Weather- what you may not know

This is a screenshot from a site about the tornadoes in the US. Several infographics are shown  which will be of interest to people who wish to further understand the historic and scientific data. The conclusion that is easy to reach is that this is an exceptional year for lethal tornadoes in the US. The reference to unusual factors in the atmosphere, featuring a clash of opposites in terms of air quality and the recurrence of the southward shift in the jetstream, which has in recent years been noted as a bringer of various kinds of weather mayhem including blocked or stuck weather patterns.

This from the UK this week where unusual weather is noted again and the jetstream is again implicated.

Cool temps in Australia have people shivering in Sydney and the ski-fields open, while NZ has a much warmer than normal autumn (May over 2 degrees higher) heading for a warm winter. These are but a few examples of the anomalies in process and since most people are on one side or other of the "is global warming anthropogenic?" debate, a further option is worth considering: that factors far beyond the control of humans are in the mix. Possible candidates in that scenario are the Sun ( solar ejections reaching earth), the passage of Nibiru in a long haul orbit,  or the often referenced alignment of 2012 with the galactic equator   . We are probably in the "who knows" phase at this time, due to the amount of unusual change on multiple levels facing earth and its inhabitants.

In the June 24 edition of the Herald, Business section, environmental reporter Peter Huck looked at the position faced by the global insurance industry in the wake of increasing weather & environment related claims. Roughly over the past 3 decades, claims for these events tripled according to a German reinsurer. This pattern is echoed in NZ. Piers Corbyn, UK Astrophysicist, is dedicated to providing global warnings re extreme weather including storms, quakes, volcanism. His website WeatherAction publishes regular free updates and offers a paid subscription service. As an alternative forecaster, using astronomical data, referencing the effects of the solar-lunar interactions with our planet, his conclusions used in forecasting may include other unrevealed factors - since the sun and moon alone seem too simplistic  - New Moons, Full Moons, eclipses, perigees, maximum or equatorial lunar declinations are commonly found to be involved but you will not find extreme events in the energy window ( 3-4 days either side of exact event timing) with every  New, Full, eclipse, perigee, etc. for example the most powerful recent quake, the Japan M9.0 on March 11 2011,  occurred mid-way between New and Full Moon, but the Moon was around 22 degrees, close to 23.49 maximum north declination for that month.
Extra solar activity -flares, CMES etc may have prevailed as extra factors, but without that background data, their role is not clear to me.
It is very useful to combine astronomical and astrological data: and from an astrology perspective, looking at March 2011 data, with Uranus at 29 Pisces in exact square to the Moon's nodes 29 Sag-Gem - the energy for the Japan quake tsunami was triggered from March 6 and initiated by the preceding December 29  2010 eclipse at 29 Sag-Gem. The long view, of event precursors, combined with triggers, can prove very useful in forecasting.

See how tightly the energy is contained, with 2 bunches and all within half of the circle.

Knowing that the ascendant degree corresponds to the earthly manifestation of the chart's potential the point of 19Aries41 was in exact semisquare to Pluto in the 2nd, 8 minutes before this event chart set for 2.10 am local time. Mars, and Jupiter have the Moon as their midpoint and this highly energised bunch are in strong conflict with the Mercury-Chiron-Sun bunch in Gemini.

The midpoints are always full of hidden power. Here Saturn sits right in the middle of the Jupiter-Asc energies and Saturn is on the Venus-Node midpoint. Chiron is the Saturn-Neptune midpoint. All of these factors being indicators of suffering and negative outcomes for any beings caught up in the aftermath.  

Tribal people the world over have personified earth energies as the outrage of  their gods punishing the errant ways of humans. Even European culture carried such notions well into the renaissance era, until the discipline of science proposed other reasons for extreme weather, volcanoes and earthquakes. The scientific view holds sway over  religious or tribal views through the modern world but there is cause to reconsider the scientific world view which struggles to understand unseen energies.

Despite the contributions of Einstein and other quantum physicists, the mainstream view of reality is still largely classical and deeply attached to materiality. Despite decades of dedicated research, the past century has failed to achieve the Theory of Everything and a complete, unifying understanding of the known forces of gravity, electomagnetism and the nuclear forces.  The point is these excellent investigative minds are missing something, overlooking something and that something may very well relate to ancient knowledge, long since dismissed.  One intriguing global awareness amongst pre-industrialized societies is the acknowledgment of the power of natural forces and the attribution of personality or emotion to these energies. This so called primitive belief may not in fact be misguided. Perhaps the language or conception is primitive or simplified, but the notion itself of unseen forces co-existing alongside us, being distressed and disturbed by our ignorant disruption of the environment, is worth exploring further.  This acknowledgment is in play when Maori in New Zealand say prayers or bless projects. Being a culture only recently colonized ( NZ Treaty of 1840), Maori have been able to begin renewing their cultural practices following decades of discouragement. The NZ government regularly employs the services of Maori to provide cultural services which entail spiritual protocol. Some retain traditional references and others are Christianized. It is the former which are of interest.

In an early C20th century NZ Maori conversation book the question is posed: "Did not the gods assume human form?" which is answered: "They appeared under the form of reptiles, butterflies, whirlwind, etc..."  The Maori genealogy of gods shows gods identified for weather, earthquakes, reptiles etc as well as the well known gods for war, the forest and the sea. The most well known creature of Maori mythology ( apparently derived historically from the shark) is the taniwha. 

So in New Zealand we have on hand the remnants of an ancient culture, as found in many locations worldwide, who hold strong beliefs concerning the power of nature - whether that be a condition like wind or an event like a quake, or even in the form of a creature - to have what is interpreted as intelligence to act/create/destroy. 

The notion of spirit beings being able to impact upon the living is also a widespread global belief. 

When considered together, these ideas reflect a strong human acknowledgment of unseen factors that co-exist with people in their everyday world.  The idea that when people do bad things, the gods get enraged is held to be true in this worldview. Human energy impacting on everything else and not realising, through lack of consciousness, that anything else truly exists. Perhaps we have entered the age when this blindness will be sorely tested and when many will awaken.

The recent news re anti-matter experiments is intriguing in this context, since the question as to why the observable universe is filled with matter -yet antimatter could be exactly what is in all so-called empty space around us.

this is set for London UK with an 8Libra17 ascendant and Saturn up close at 10Libra30 and Uranus also in the frame at 4Aries03. Jupiter is the main player, with a good flow to Pluto, both being in earth (practical, material signs), but Jupiter's first main connection is to watery, vague, confusing, yet compassionate and humanitarian Neptune at its peak in Pisces. Jupiter also semisquares the Gemini Sun.

Firstly Jupiter in Taurus would mean matters of wealth, material abundance, are on the agenda. The house positions only count for the local area of relevance and so will differ for other places. 

With Saturn in Libra, prominent here for London the austerity issues are in contrast to the capacity for material indulgence. Restructuring of the institutions of wealth and government is an ongoing theme with Saturn and Pluto squaring off and with Uranus increasingly in the mix in the 2012 time frame, unexpected, unprecedented initiatives are on the agenda

The New Zealand related chart of Jupiter's ingress for Wellington, (affecting NZ overall) has interesting similarities, being almost an exact flip

What holds true for both (and all locations) is with Neptune so linked to Jupiter the interpretation has to begin with the potential for some to fall prey to the delusion of wealth or material abundance (risky ventures, gambling, dream investments, false confidence); others will find the urge to be philanthropic or humanitarian with their excess wealth. Neptune/Pisces as an element is water and Taurus is of course earth, so expect big floods and heavy rainfall to continue extending the prior theme of Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces.

With Mars and Venus in Taurus in the Taurean 2nd house, the NZ chart shows a big emphasis on money, possessions, food and other earthly pleasures, but there is a conflict between the Me urges and the Us responsibilities. Saturn in Libra on the relationship horizon and influencing work and health matters shows the strain on partnerships both private and professional. Some people will be riding on a high and spending up large, others will be having to sort out their joint accounts because Saturn sits midway between Uranus and the Ascendant emphasising the tension between the urge to stick together through thick and thin versus the survival of the fittest.

Material/financial/property matters affecting domestic, household and internal NZ matters along with issues related to motherhood, women and families  get a big profile in NZ in the year ahead, with the Cancer Moon in tension with the ascendant. This tight position shows a big impact with national (NZ) implications, that is likely to involve loss of homes. (The  Moon-Uranus midpoint at 25 Taurus is exactly aspected by Saturn) The UK chart, like others globally, set for the ingress, obviously has the same aspect.

Moon-Neptune and Jupiter-Mars all meet at the same point in Taurus. this will encourage some to invest a lot in their dream home. Better not to be a seaside home or one by flooding water, though.

Adding to the need for caution, Saturn sits right on the Moon-Pluto midpoint which is an indicator of significant difficulties facing families and places of residence.

Primarily a lot of turmoil around people's material/financial/property status is likely to unfold over the coming year. The ongoing economic restructuring is far from over and the effects of natural disasters on people's assets have already been forewarned. Both issues combined indicate a renewed value system is in process, a rebalancing due to excesses of the past decades. 

Much of the interpretation themes noted above apply globally. This is just a brief analysis of standout factors.

Recent quake data from USGS from June 1-June 4 2011

June 3 2011
An explosion in the Puyehue-Cordon Caulle volcanic complex sent plumes of smoke more than six miles into the air, the state emergency office said. The location (40° 35′ 25″ S, 72° 7′ 2″ W) is a well known volcanic hot spot and is now on maximum, level 4 alert. This area erupted in 1960 following the massive M9.5 Valdivia earthquake.


The M9.5 is the largest in recorded quake history on our planet, (though prior events in past millennia are likely to have been greater). This means the local area was majorly disturbed on every level, but so too in terms of tsunami records, affecting an extensive ocean zone, westwards, north and south in the Pacific. Details of this in the prior link. From this massive 1960 quake event we can conclude that the whole of planet earth was affected. Tsunami map plus pix


Here is the astro chart. Note that references day 19.11 UTC on May 22 1960, which should convert to a 4 hour reduction for local time = 15.11 (3.11pm) but Wikipedia and others give 14.11 (2.11pm locally which could be a conversion error. The chart is done for 3.11pm with notable tight angles ( exact being within a degree in most cases) Mars in Aries hugging the descendant and Jupiter on the IC, Sun exact square Chiron in Pisces; Jupiter exact sextile to Chiron; Pluto tight in opposition to Chiron; Neptune exact semisextile ASC, Venus, ruler of ASC exact sequiqudrate ASC, Mars exact semisquare Venus)

So all the big players you would expect are there: Pluto for the transformational change; Uranus for earthquake events; Saturn for the deformed land; Chiron the afflicted psyche's woundedness; Neptune and the Chiron links all reflecting the tsunami; Mars in Aries the intense heat (earth anger); Venus in earth sign Taurus, tightly linked to the nodes and the Moon (mid-heaven ruler and timing factor) slotting into place to link several factors together. In fact the whole chart is tightly knit, with all energies on deck to play a part in this massive event. You will not find one element in the chart shown that is left out of the pattern and more could be found looking at midpoints or other chart elements beyond the basics.

Using the pre-eclipse method discussed in prior posts about prediction, this event shows the forewarning partial solar eclipse of March 27 1960 was spot on, being 6Aries39. Mars reached that degree on May 20 1960 and began the build-up to the main quake ( which was preceded by huge foreshocks on May 21) The March 13 total lunar eclipse degree 22Virgo47 was mirrored in the early weeks of May as the subterranean quake development was in progress. Massive events do not spring from a single instantaneous activity and the planetary build up shows the connections that unleash energy which cascades into chaos.

Update June 6

Here's a site devoted to global Volcano News since we are looking to be in an enhanced volcanic activity phase (Aries and dominant Cardinal activity being precursor energies) The Iceland events, Java, Hawaii and now Chile are all occurring in quick succession. This bigger picture is what the mainstream news fails to present, but the isolationist view is no longer an adequate model for viewing the world and our place in the universe. You will discover traditionally trained geoscientists who are prepared to discuss connections between distant events, but the conservative view is that the earth is made up of isolated bits and pieces that bear no relationship to each other. Which is like a medic telling you that the gout in your big toe is not a sign of a systemic problem.

NOTE that this event has emerged in the period between 2 of the 3 mid-year eclipses in 2011. ( partial solar eclipse June 1st, total lunar eclipse June 15th UTC). Global Weather Anomalies - now the norm?

By now, mid year 2011, it is probably not possible to find a place on our planet where standard weather and climate models hold to their expected forecasting. The computer modelling now has to be rewritten.

For whatever reason, The Northern hemisphere appears to be more prone to the worst extremes, but the southern hemisphere definitely isn't spared. The anomalies are such that within one nation, one zone is warmer or wetter and another cooler or drier, or any other mix. Australia and New Zealand overall were cooler in April, this continued in Australia in May, but New Zealand May has been a record beater for temperatures. A new local private weather forecaster WeatherWatchNZ ( which specialises in Auckland forecasting) has twice told us in recent weeks that the warm is over and winter temps are about to begin. This tweet from today says otherwise:

WeatherWatchNZ is trying to outdo the performance of the government forecaster MetService, claiming to have more accuracy, yet a close watch actually shows that they do not necessarily have the market cornered. The situation requires a complete rethink and the nature of the unfolding complexities and anomalies means reliable weather prediction will be increasingly more difficult.

Whether you believe than human induced change is the cause, or whether we are witnessing the return of long cycle patterns from the distant past - terrestrial in origin, or connected to other solar system factors ( the role of the sun; the impact of other planetary behaviour within our solar system - the situation emerging clearly is one of rapidly escalating conditions, which differ markedly from what we know as "normal".

Even the non-professional citizen is capable of discerning different patterns in local conditions. For all our lives till now we have understood that markers of each of the 4 seasons. Now that clarity and distinction is blurred and confused for us, for the plants, for animals.
