Saturn Pluto & Covid-19 Coronavirus

On November 9 2015 the virology lab in Wuhan announced a new virus identified as derivative of SARS-CoV -( which had been named in 2003 after a 2002 respiratory contagion)
Around December 8 2019 a man in China displaying symptoms related to coronavirus infection was identified as an early case of a novel coronavirus, later to be named Covid-19.
There were multiple planetary factors of interest on Nov 9 2015 including the prominent number of cardinal sign placements - Venus on nodal axis, Uranus Pluto and mutable placements: Mars Jupiter Saturn Neptune  -as these 2 energy types have featured strongly during the 2020 Covid-19 global pandemic due to placements of Saturn Jupiter Pluto in cardinal and Neptune & Venus in mutable signs.

With Saturn at 5 Sagittarius and Neptune at 7 Pisces on Nov 9 2015 they were close to an exact square, (arising within a few weeks) Neptune Pisces and Sagittarius all want to spread, cross boundaries, join up, expand. But Saturn is intent on opposing all that by restraining restricting limiting controlling growth.

In November 2015 these look to have been the primary forces in battle -cardinal versus mutable.

The surface layer placements tell us some things but the subtle layer where the 24th harmonic angles [such as semisquare & sesquiquadrate] occur is often the most informative.

Looking at the semisquares of Saturn and Neptune at those mutable positions the results are 20 and 22 cardinal.

Pluto reached
20 cardinal in February 2018, October 2019
22 cardinal Feb July & Dec 2019

Saturn reached
20 cardinal April and Dec 2019
22 cardinal Jan 2020

Famously these two forces conjoined on January 12 2020 at 22'45 Capricorn after both were active at the relevant degrees in late 2019.

Jupiter added amplification to the above  reaching 20-22 cardinal in weeks one and three of March 2020

[March 7 saw milestone one - 100,000 global cases - taking around 90 days from the Dec 8 "first" case.
March 19 gave a 200,000 global total; March 22 gave a 300,000 global total; March 24 saw 400,000; March 28 600,000 - from March 7-April 1st totals ticked over at 100,000 global cases daily from March 28-April 1st. - figures since then April-to early May seem to show a decline to around 70,000 daily]

Understanding Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn is highly important in terms of understanding how these planets function in that sign.

Saturn is at its peak mastery of control and influence in Capricorn allowing displays of superior management skills based on maintaining a structure as a solid functional entity.

Pluto in Capricorn wears a very different face. Pluto and Capricorn are both very interested in control - but for Pluto it is readily construed as a green light for totalitarian control ultimate and extreme control and power.

With these 2 converging in January 2020 in the wake of the potent January 10 eclipse such forces were simultaneously released - but they had been alive covertly since February 2018 [Pluto] and repeatedly during 2019 when Pluto then Saturn traversed 20 -22 Capricorn.

If Saturn alone had featured in this saga then the most effective cautious and protective use of Capricorn would have emerged.

With Pluto in the picture it points to a titanic battle between these 2 forces regarding doing the right thing.
The potential for a true good versus evil scenario seems very plausible in a global context where totalitarian forces are strengthening - and showing their true colours in various nation states under the guise of protecting their communities.

Saturn has passed 20-22 Capricorn and does not return for 30 years.
Pluto however transits slowly at 22'30 through much of September and October 2020 and also moves away.

Those months could reveal Pluto's far reaching social agendas

Outlook 2020 Astrology MARCH APRIL MAY JUNE JULY

The coronavirus Covid-19 global crisis with economic responses really began to take hold in March 2020 as reflected in the March 10 full moon when Uranus exactly conjuncted Venus at 4 Taurus. This position activated 19 mutable - which was the Sun moon and Neptune at that full moon = weakened economy.
Markets dropped and the price of oil slumped soon after.
But an ordinary full moon is not a sustained indicator like an eclipse -unless it has a degree match to a prior or upcoming eclipse position - then that full moon pattern takes on themes of the connected eclipse as well as its own signature. This was not the case in the March event.
Global markets took a hit but have had some degree of recovery [Dow Jones was 26,121 on March 5 then 18,590 on March 23 then up to 23,949 on April 14.
Jupiter Pluto conjuncting in Capricorn  -closures and failures and lockdowns - have severely impacted economies from the last 2 weeks of March providing the second punch.

In April Saturn delivers the third punch with some influence in week one then primarily in the period 17-27 April -  pressing up close to the Capricorn South lunar node but then Mercury Sun and Venus [using  both the most basic & the most subtle of angles in the 24th harmonic]
Coinciding with Saturn's activity with Venus around April 25-26 the nodes reach 0'21 Cancer -which happens to be the June 21 Solar Eclipse in Cancer.
June 21 has Saturn aggravating the lunar energy of that New Moon eclipse and Jupiter and Pluto putting the brakes on Mars in Pisces.
My reading of this is:
Around April 25-26 a turning point globally re controlling covid-19 but economic fallout continues its carnage.
May 2020 reinforces this position:
Neptune and Saturn both weakening for Venus. Even if from late April there is some global economic revival it remains weak.
June 2020:
Indications of virus control at both the June 5 and June 21 eclipses with Mars in Pisces being restrained by Saturn then the Jupiter+ Pluto team
June 5 still signifies limits on movements and travel for an extended period
June 21 shows impacts on housing/housing market & families for an extended period

July 2020 has a further cardinal sign eclipse
This is a very testing month: much global turbulence -atmospheric and socio-economic - at the beginning of July surrounding the eclipse on July 5.
Jupiter and Pluto again very tight together in Capricorn. Venus will resonate with that very quickly: many levers pulled to resuscitate economies. Another extension of the "movements curtailed" theme. Eclipse indicators set another period of unresolved economic crisis till end of 2020. 
Reinforced again:
With Saturn strongly opposing the July 20 New Moon and connecting to the late Gemini-Sagittarius lunar nodes the tough times aren't over for families homes housing market especially. [atmospheric turbulence bringing severe weather is again an added adversity in various locations] Winter in the Southern Hemisphere aggravates issues.

By July there is likely to be an overall feeling of success globally in managing the coronavirus but the socio-economic fallout has long term dramas to play out not only this year - sustained during 2021.

To clarify even further:

• The success level is not equivalent to eradication
• The success level will be variable across the globe with style of management being the major determinant
• strict measures of containment will still feature in many contexts from April till end of 2020

Astrology offers clear distinction between 3 approaches taken: the Capricorn/Saturn the Aquarian/Uranian & the Piscean/Neptunian

Buckle in as best you can to try and ride out 2020. Change will come but this period is a phenomenon with a lot still to unfold in its wake beyond this year

Astrology of 2020 & Beyond

By April 2020 we now have some clear manifestations of what is unfolding in 2020
 under major planetary influences
 and set to have consequences
 for years ahead

Since this blog has been posting reports relevant to 2020 for more than a year it seems sensible to accumulate anything related to this era of crisis under one post to promote a wider sharing of knowledge of the astrological markers involved and to enhance forward projections. 

The past is always a reference point in our area of expertise and so the list of posts to view begins with the last era of Uranus in Taurus and so the period of 1934-1942 can serve as a very clear signifier of events unfolding during the 2018-2026 Uranus in Taurus period of global events.
Continual media references are being made to war, conditions in the war era of World War 2 due to so many echoes being observed. While no two cycles are duplicates because the energy mix at the origin of each cycle differs: the beginning or ingress chart reveals the full spread of factors that colour the themes of that particular version - with particular emphasis on what the outer planets starting with Jupiter were indicating at the start of the cycle.

Neptune

While the Covid-19 coronavirus was not on this author's radar for 2020 (was it on anyone's in our astrological community?) its manifestation is explicable with a very strengthened Neptune in Pisces in action from the start of 2020 though January February and March due to energy from Uranus, Jupiter then the March full moon. Neptune at 19-21 degrees activates the highly significant Jan 10 2020 eclipse at 20 degrees. 19-21 degrees remains alive as a sensitive point evoking Neptune in Pisces during 2020 and 2021. This is unlikely to all be contagion/viral issues. Water/flood effects are also on the agenda as well as everything Neptunian - best and worst.

Saturn Jupiter Pluto in Capricorn

The best and worst of power and control have already been witnessed during the early months of 2020.

Unprecedented global lockdowns closures cancellations and increased regulations for the purposes of protection have been appropriate within the Covid-19 crisis and fully fit the energy of these planets in Capricorn.

Some nations states have been negligent or brutal in rejecting the protection imperative - trying to defy this mighty energy wave -and have demanded business must survive ahead of collective and community wellbeing. Nations that have tried to protect both are striking the right balance.

Whatever structures are laid down or destroyed in 2020 will have long-term effects or consequences.

Jupiter & Pluto in Cardinal.
In the content of the 1918 influenza pandemic the Dec 28 1917 lunar eclipse was 6 degrees Capricorn Cancer with Pluto close at 4 Cancer. [Neptune also involved at 6 Leo. Uranus at 21 Aquarius was sesqui the eclipse].
August 10 1918 Jupiter caught up with Pluto -conjuncting exactly at 6 Cancer.

In 2020 Jupiter and Pluto conjunct again in cardinal: on April 5 at 24'53 Capricorn and June 30 [24'06] and Nov 12 [22'52] which gives a range from 23-25 Capricorn activating at least 22-26 degrees in all the cardinal signs. Activations of this degree range by Sun in April, Mars in August, late Sept-early Oct, Sun in October, Mars in December.

With Jupiter signifying expansion and exponential states of growth, when aided by Pluto the extreme quality is clearly emphasised. Midpoints of these two powerful forces are also of much significance not just the conjunctions in 2020.

The 1918 pandemic is estimated to have caused 500 million worldwide infections with deaths estimated in the range from 50-100 million. The current status in 2020 is far from that but given the structural capacity of Capricorn, Jupiter and Pluto in that sign are mega-scale builders. The energy shifts in December 2020 when Jupiter joins Saturn in Aquarius but the reign of the virus is not likely to be completed in 2020 and nor will the collateral damage to society be over.

Uranus in Taurus

It was fully clear ahead of 2018 that Big Change was coming in terms of our material and financial circumstances. It may have been pre-visioned as another global financial crisis due to excess debt and bad practices - another inherent self created collapse - not one imposed by a covert agent operating at the everyday level of existence. Predictions as at start of April 2020 look to damage beyond the recently declared "global recession".

The Virgo Factor
Now that Corvid-19 is fully on the radar the energy of Virgo is worth referencing. This zodiac link to matters of health hygiene and work/employment is strongly in the frame when considering outer planets in the final 10 degrees of Capricorn - using the decanate system of analysis.  Saturn entered 20 Capricorn Virgo decanate as the coronavirus was spreading undetected in China, December 2019. With retrograding, Saturn will leave Capricorn for 3 months from March 22 but the energy does not disappear, being strong from July until the week before Christmas 2020. Jupiter is in the Virgo decanate of Capricorn from early March 2020-August 2 then Oct 24 - Dec 19 2020. Pluto began its Virgo mode in Capricorn in 2018 and sustains it until early 2025. 

From this it is clear that the long slow passage of Pluto through a cleansing cycle is underway -whether that is expressed related to disease contagion or bodily phobias extra/excessive hygiene sense of contamination or intensified ethnic/cultural oppression (Uyghur turkic minority in northwest China, oppressions in Myanmar Kashmir etc) is yet to fully unfold over several more years.

The Aquarian Factor

With Saturn and Jupiter entering Aquarius in late December 2020 a new 200 year cycle becomes fully underway which was first signposted by the July 1981 conjunction of these planets at 4'55 Libra. [Air] The next conjunction in May 2000 - [Taurus] was the end of the Earth conjunctions for these planets for a very very long time so the past 20 years have been ultra materialistic and food-obsessed. Knowing the unfoldment of this cycle also prepares us for what is ahead: we can no longer attach ourselves to the same degree of identification with things and with physicality and excessive sensory indulgence in general. Aquarius is very astral and very much about subtle energy fields. Our collective identification is set to shift very strongly over the 200 years ahead away from the gross physical plane to the etheric and to the mental conceptual digital and virtual -signs of which have of course already emerged. This is the bigger picture. In the short term Saturn does not always work too well for the Aquarian spirit but if conditions demand Saturn can fulfil the role of restraining social activity [freedoms] for the greater good -as became very clear from late March 2020 when Saturn first entered Aquarius. Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius can work together to create structures at a grand scale in the digital realm and this development also clearly shows a shift away from physical contexts.
The dark side of digital life has to be pre-warned further during Saturn in Aquarius - as a prelude to intensification during Pluto in Aquarius within this decade. Greater digital connectivity with more of our lives and systems online also includes greater surveillance more hacking more cyber-crime and dysfunctionality of systems - strongly activated when another outer planet colludes disrupts or aggravates the Saturnian energy.

2020 crisis

Writing in mid-March it is clear how events already in 2020 have many connections to the World War 2 era of Uranus in Taurus. A dedicated post is located on this site with expectations indicated for the current era of Uranus in Taurus.
More than this the dominant energy of Capricorn in effect due to not only the heavy weights Pluto and Saturn in that sign - added to with Jupiter and Mars in Capricorn during March 2020. The way in which Capricorn would express - given that all energies are multi-faceted - took a while to unfold - but the essence was there with the mass organisational response of the Chinese government to the newly discovered coronavirus in January not long after the first 2020 eclipse on January 10 which directly activated the Capricorn planets.
At the eclipse the signature of the virus and it's economic effects were signalled by Uranus in Taurus beginning a connection to Neptune in Pisces over a 10 week period through into March.

Taurus is everything financial monetary and everything of the  earth,everything in physical form. When Uranus influences Taurus this planet brings sudden changes.
Neptune is the Pisces planet which not only relates the everything about the sea and water but to the concept of ultimate connectiveness just as the oceans and seas of the world flow into and affect each other so too this effect occurs unseen between people and this connectivity can also express as contagion. Viral diseases are therefore signified by Neptune.
And this has unfolded out of China into our highly globalised connected world aided by fast transport. When the carrier mechanism Jupiter linked in with Neptune on Feb 20 the global spread was advancing rapidly: 48 countries by Feb 25 ( it was 26 countries by Feb 10)
By mid March with pandemic status recently declared the spread continues with significant hotspots while earliest outbreaks : China, South Korea are said to be in decline. The global involvement has led to many strong Capricorn style government bans restrictions closures support programs to slow and mitigate social and economic chaos. Despite best efforts there are clearly major impacts unfolding on both of those fronts.
The outlook remains serious with clear potential for worsening conditions in many locations for a considerable period ahead due to the long term consequences of such a major transformational global event.
The standout energy shift ahead is in Dec 2020 when Jupiter and Saturn sit together in the cosmos at zero degrees Aquarius marking the true transition into a 200 year era where we majorly move away from our reliance on old world formats and pillaging of resources for the intentions of sheer greed and mass consumerism. Pondering how such a shift could be ushered in did not cover a global pandemic setting off recession but here in early 2020 that is what has been delivered as a supersized nudge towards getting people to stop excessive wasteful consumption. So given the current state of affairs it is now clearer how the Aquarian Age is set to be based upon the vastly different values that the songs of the seventies hoped for.
We've wrecked a lot of this planet. We've ruined so many lives. We've annihilated family life and enslaved so many in miserable suffering.
This year 2020 is a huge wake-up call for humanity to reset it's relationship to each other to the planet that is our only home and to our personal responsibility to share this world as fairly as we can with all beings all species. Those lessons will be accompanied by knee jerk emotions of discomfort frustration anger in many before the light switch illuminates a much clearer view.
2021 is likely to be a significant collective year of adjustment to new norms and values that represent our 21st century objectives.

Keywords and activities related to Virgo include the work ethic, health hygiene diet nutrition, sorting organising cleaning tidying categories and classifications, critiques and criticism, analysis and research, comparison and difference, separateness simplicity plainness modesty... the Amish way. Virgo energy needs management when hypercritical of self and others and when perfectionist or seeking extreme purification. Eugenics and racial superiority are expressions of this. The extreme side of sorting or cleansing is often seen in obsessive rituals and autism spectrum behaviours.
Moon declination is noted as an amplifying force when at extreme North South and over the equator.

Multiple factors clustering around  eclipse date Jan 10 (Universal Time) show this is a period of highly activated forces. Landscape shifting - literally metaphorically politically. Major restructuring in hierarchies of power.  A critical and historic period in laying the groundwork and foundations for transformative approaches in politics business corporates and banking. - and in the expression of patriarchal power.

Venus Saturn Pluto Synergy 2019 2020

The Venus Saturn Pluto synergy - a virtual conjunction - occurred mid December 2019 in the period 11th-14th between 19-22 Capricorn. Events during these 4 days have powerful and enduring consequences in all of the corresponding aspects of life that relate to these 3 planets when operating through the energy of Capricorn. The energy imprint of the 3 planets was amplified due to being part of the signature of the prevailing full moon on Dec 12. Nothing modified or obstructed the Capricorn energy of this grouping - though Jupiter in Capricorn had its own role to play being in close separating range of a square to Chiron in Aries.
Multiple aspects between faster moving Venus and the slow deep Saturn and Pluto close together still in Capricorn will unfold during 2020 evoking so much of what took place during mid December 2019.
The best of Saturn Pluto and Venus in Capricorn is not the stuff of news headlines because it is the private personal successes and achievements on an inner rather than an outer level occurring unwitnessed but experienced by the receiver as a growing up a developmental shift a maturity phase. But something major and deeply affecting lies behind that achievement when Saturn and Pluto are involved and relating is the arena in which those battles have been fought and many defeats experienced. This is pinnacle energy for those ready to reach a summit in their relationship management and how they function as a human relating to other humans.
In the outer realm business politics governments all being very Capricornian are visited by Venus but Venus in Capricorn wears a sober face as seen in New Zealand mid December as Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern once again had to deal with another mass fatality event in 2019. Jacinda Ardern has 6 factors in the range 19-23 degrees including Venus Saturn and Pluto placing her full front and centre of the personal transformational restructuring forces in her personal and public political world which have been evoked in March and December 2019 and will be sustained for her in election year 2020.
In the UK PM Boris Johnson got swept back into power aided by his high relatability factor - born with Venus almost bang on top of his Gemini Sun. People like what he says and Venus delivered for him in mid December 2019
But not all of us are so blessed personally or professionally by Capricornian achievements as a result of the December synergy: those at odds with Capricorn - endowed with Aries Libra & Cancer placements in range of the synergy midpoint of around 20 degrees - have some degree of challenge to face and at worst a very tough time. The family and friends of the New Zealand volcanic eruption victims  - many deceased instantly or within days many fighting for life or left with life and body transformed - the living face a demand to relate very differently to their loved one.
Other events in the week which define this synergy in Capricorn include the failed UN Climate Summit the Trump impeachment the naming of Greta Thunberg as Time magazine Person of the Year - and Trump's childish reaction - sustained Australian bushfires annihilating huge landscapes structures and lives and a M6.9 earthquake in the Philippines with similarly destructive consequences. The extreme drought in Zimbabwe is now life threatening and fatal for humans and other species.

Venus has two faces. In earth the Taurean association with money assets material things sensory pleasures and the products of the natural world. In Cardinal its territory is relating and relationships so Venus in Capricorn embraces both dimensions, a big basket of everyday experience where the full weight of Capricorn comes into the frame courtesy of the two taskmasters messaging in stereo - Saturn and Pluto putting people on the rack demanding at the very least a big challenge and heavy responsibility and at worst blood and pain, separation and loss, damage, the deepest of grief, the coldness of estrangement the finality of divorce - relationships broken down or destroyed lost changed irrevocably or on a new footing.
Those blessed by this synergy can benefit from a public declaration of commitment a structural societal bond called marriage for the purpose of childrearing.
The inner marriage is equally valid under this synergy: a restructured relationship with the self based on much greater self management self care and personal responsibility.
Environmentally the Venus energy related to soil and plant life and to the state of planet earth in general as a bountiful habitat is subjected to transformational restructuring involving dryness and restricted or slowed growth depletion deformity affecting production in critically important food sources. Sustained drought in vulnerable zones is alerted for 2020 (and beyond due to Saturn-Neptune).

In politics though Capricorn has worn a Venusian mask in the UK election the demands of Pluto and Saturn will soon overshadow that honeymoon face. The cold pragmatism of conservative politics will prevail.
